Manual still gives you advantages at controlling the torque more precisely, experienced drivers often get more millage, the overall cost + maintenance is lower, and there are still things that an automatic can't do, say like starting it once the battery died. There's a reason trucks and essentially anything that demands a balance between reliability, cost, and efficiency use manual.
But also I enjoy it way more.

Here at least the only reason trucks are manual is because nobody wants to shell out for new fleet vehicles if they can possibly avoid it. At UPS, at least, the new ones are all automatic. There's just a whole bunch more manual ones with no AC or power steering on the lot being held together with chewing gum and chicken wire.
