I looked this AZ law up though. Basically it wants to alloe experts in a particular field to have a path towards a teaching position. So an accomplished author might teach creative writing, etc.
That's exactly how uni professors are chosen so I can't see it being that bad and it may have a lot of merit. There are still required to take the in-service training that all teachers get throughout their career.

There's a continuum in society; on the lower strata, like in prisons, things are quite tribal or ethnic, and at the other end, in research departments, it gets more invidualistic or meritocratic.

So to lessen ethnic strife, you sort of move from tribal stuff to more subtle stuff. Which is ok as long as it's authentic stuff.

/int/ is doing it quite well, and also /pol/ some times, not by censorship but by offering something of true value, rendering the occasional bants and outbursts mostly harmless.

That should be the goal in schools, too, to give the kids something authentic.
