If you had a choice to pick when to live and what you'll be like, what would it be?

I would probably pick the Philippine Revolution, as an influential leader and to try and prevent it and follow Dr Rizal's dream of just having our own right to rule ourselves, but still loyal to the crown.

Or I would want to be a French noble during the Ancien Regime just being decadent and have relationships with married noble women and impregnate servants.

I'm not referring to ALL rap and pop songs, I'm referring to the culture behind it. I'm pretty sure that in every 1 of a 100 rap songs, there would be something that's sensible.

Why can't Filipino songs be like:
"Sa makiwang nakaraan ang shang gigiya sa matiwasay na kinabukasan"

"Hikbi't 'kinaghoy nang pusu ko'y sana may saysay 'tong luha ko"

"Nino mo 'to isasagawa, nino ka yuyuko kung ikaw lamang ang may taglay na umukit sa buhay mo"

>>74862796
Do we?
>>
>>74863012
>baybayin is so much better.
THIS. I've been wanting the Tagalog spelling to be reformed since the day I was born. Make it more phonetic like Japanese because that's what Tagalog is supposed to be. The only difference is that Tagalog can end with Consonants. Also REMOVE "Kambal na katinig", words like Traysikel becomes Taraysikel, so it fits the Tagalog tensing, like Magtataraysikel. Change the spelling, accommodate for words that have similar spelling but different pronounciation. Maybe implement a dash line to signify that. Words like Buhay and Bu-hay, Wi-ka, etc. Implement the usage of slangs such as Mayron = mayrun = meron = mayroon and teach people its differences. Teach people how to pronounce properly, make them pronounce G and K closer and R, D and L as well.

I've so many ideas I don't know where to start
>>
>>74863153
when you write in baybayin don't you pretty much have to drop some consonants?

Ex: Bundok(mountain) becomes Budo
>>
>>74863245
Not necessarily. It's kinda hard since ancient Tagalo (not tagalog because G was put by the spanish because of masculine naming problems) have got stops that kinda sounds like a consonant but it isn't. I'd say instead of modifying the middle of the word, Tagalog should be modified at the end.

>Original = Modern = WHAT SHOULD BE
Nguni = Ngunit = Nguni'
Bagama = Bagamat = Bagama'
Kahi = Kahit = Kahi'
Sapagka = Sapagkat = Sapakka'

So the word Bundok would fall halfway into Bundo' and Bundo(k) with the K almost silent but still there.
I'm not sure about pronouncing it as Budo.
>>
>>74863245
Btw in Baybayin, if your name was Juan Dela Cruz, baybayin would say it as "Wan dera kuru". The Dera could also be Dela, but I think they're the same letter, so it's a slight but unnoticable difference going from R = L.

Think of the Japanese pronounciation of R and L but we use the L side more than R than they do.

Also there's an archaic system where S = H as well, OR an extended vowel.
Like
Labas = Laba-(h/s)
Kuwintas = Kuwinta-(h/s)
Ubos = Ubo-(h/s)

But I don't even quite get how that's going to work in reformation since Tagalog has got Spanish words with it as well, and Laba might be confused with Laba-(h/s).

Speaking of Japanese, the Tagalog pronounciation is so interesting that they could turn the Spanish word "Desecho" into "Risetsu."

Desecho = Nadesetso = Narisetso = Narisetsu

>>74863601
Right now I would have no clue, there aren't any grammatical rules known to people on how baybayin ACTUALLY worked. Everything was just a speculation based on the words used and how they evolved. Even Rodrigo Duterte is a Spanish name, so it would be hard to tell what the outcome would be because there are many ways to bastardize that name into baybayin.

>Ro'rigo Duterute
>Rodigo Duterute

Not to mention O = U first vowel as well and last vowel becomes U as well depending of the pitch of the next word.
>Ru'rigo Duterote

Yes. OR maybe it just wasn't written down. I don't know, there are lots of possibilities. But that's how Tagalog evolved and the reason why we pronounce as such. We don't even know how baybayin exactly worked. We are only looking at what Spain had written down, not the actual language itself.

>In Bohol we would also be wealthy and build an ancestral home (still stands today)
>a couple of generations later Philippine revolution would start
>my ancestors would flee from the ancestral home, as Revolutionaries would burn it
>family is split, as some had Spanish sympathies
>my family were English teachers and the few who are literate
>after that some of the family would give up our Spanish support and join the First Philippine Republic
>one such is would lead a local militia
>he would die fighting in the Philippine-American war when Americans came to our village
>my ancestor tried to ambush them by building trenches, the also mostly had melee weapons
>but the last Spanish governor of the village had told the Americans about the plan and they got ambushed instead
>only 7 survived out of 400~ men
>there's a statue of my ancestor and a school named after him
>early 1900s would see our ancestral home built again
>WWII would see our ancestral home taken over by invading Japs and turned into a command post
>Americans would later do the same
>A US army jeep would accidently crash into the house, which causes it to be damaged
>my grandfather (my dad's side) would be hired to fix it
>in return my grandfather and his family are free to live in a house they own
>according to my dad, the last of pure Spanish in my mum's family had died when he was young

I read from The History of the Bisayan Islands of Padre Alcina SJ in a 17th Century manuscript...

He didn't give any clue on where and when did the people of the islands called themselves as "Bisaya" but the Spaniards were the ones who collectively called them that.

The theory according to Alcina is that "Bisaya" means slave perhaps in Hindu-Sanskrit terms.
Another one is "saya" or "sadya" meaning "happy people"...

Depends whose saying it. As I said before, I could make Tagalog what it should be and even a malay-anon here said that it sounds like Japanese. So it does have a potential to adapt the Japanese culture using the Tagalog language. Or not just that, we could create a completely different culture with a different basis of perception compared to the Japs. And I don't think it stops there, We have our own tones and ways of iterating words. True that Tagalog can't sound as cute as Japanese, but I think we can make Tagalog cooler than them. Cuteness in tagalog could work somehow on a ratio of 20% cuteness and 80%-90% coolness and elegance.

I just know it's possible because I sometimes roleplay with myself in Tagalog to see if it is.

Not necessarily: there's my high school teacher who went from Aquino and Roxas supporter to staunch Marcos loyalist in the span of three years. And she's not even 30 yet.

It's really hard. Marcos loyalist organizations have large budgets and good artists who are able to catch the attention of the uninformed with beautiful videos and graphics, never mind the lack of reliable sources. Once these people are brainwashed, anything is dismissed as "propaganda" or as a conspiracy to "destroy the Marcoses", even if you counter with your own well-designed media.

Exactly, and that's what makes Tagalog so cool. You can really feel the raw emotions of the characters, and how serious they are. Japanese sounds like a play in a park, or a comedian, when trying to sound cool.

I think most Tagalog know what buto means,at least the people I know do

>Am I the only one here that's like their own country's music?
I used to. But music quality declined when piracy started to peak.

>Di na kami mag-eexert ng effort gumawa ng quality music, ipipirata lang din, lugi lang tayo.

during cassette days... even if there are pirated cassettes people would still buy original ones because

100pesos original cassettes > shit quality 40pesos recorded tapes + ugly covers

Well both candidates are utterly terrible, Melenchon getting kicked out is the worst thing that could happen for France. Enjoy your actual leader as Angela Merkel as she increases the refugee intake without problem.
