the zero, most produced jap plane
for the americans, it depends on the era
right at the start it was the P-40 wich was very heavy and designed in the early 30's, and to some point the lighter P-36
later it was the heavily armored carrier-based F4F, and further improvements like F4U and F6F but those weren't produced as much
F4F was also probably the ugliest mass produced fighter in the pacific theater
>humanity will never go back to the age of propeller fighter aircraft without guided missiles and supersonic speeds
1915-1945 was the greatest era for fighter aircraft. noisy jets ruined everything.
Also HEAVILY recommend Rise of Flight and IL-2 BoS to anyone that likes flight sims.
War Thunder is good if you want something extremelly basic and arcadey too
>>74727961
outta my way axis fucking shits
>In April, 1945 Guards Major Kozhedub (La-7) tried to defend an American B – 17 from a pair of German fighters. However, the American fighters of the cover started firing from a large distance and attacked Kozhedub. Kozhedub promptly attacked the nearest machine. There was a smoke and it flew down towards our troops (the pilot of this machine soon jumped out with a parachute and landed safely.
Why are yanks so dumb?
>>74728491
American Anti-air artillery also shot on a huge amount of friendly parachooter units in Sicily, in a night oeeration.
>Under intense fire from friendly guns, Tucker and his paratroopers jumped. On the ground, he removed his helmet and banged it against a tank hull to alert the crew to stop firing on the planes.
>All told, more than 1,200 men died of amicide. Patton could only stare in horror, repeating, "Oh, my God," over and over while Ridgeway cried. Anti-aircraft gunner Herbert Blair later wrote, "Only then does the dreadful realization descend like a sledgehammer upon us. We have wantonly, though inadvertently, slaughtered our own gallant buddies. I feel sick in body and mind."
probably the most disastrous case of friendly fire to ever happen

>no self-healing tanks
>sacrifice everything for range
as soon as americans figured out it was slower than their planes and adopted hit and run tactics to use their superior speed, Japan was doomed

Good taste.

Lockheed P-38. Not a great aircraft, but it sure looks cool.
Spain Civil War was the prologue of WW2. I wish it wasnt so overlooked by history books and pop culture under the shadow of actual WW2
>>74730585
its pretty good as far as heavy fighters go
mostly limited to bomber hunting but could probably face many fighters with boom n zoom tactics under the right conditionss
pic is Savoia Marcheetti (not sure if SM79 or 81) flying on the med coast

bf 109 hands down
>>74730876
excellent movie
Heinkel made an attempt to make fighters with the He 100 and He 112 but they were too hard to manufacture compared with the other proposition, the Bf 109, so they were relegateed to only doing bombers.
they even produced a decent amount of He 100 off their own pockets without support from the Luftwaffe and painted them with the german markings. He 112 prototypes also saw action in Spain and one He 112 was famously known to take down a german fighter in the south of spain in the middle of WW2
Dot
P-47 Thunderbolt or B-24 Liberator or Avro Lancaster

MC.202? very beautiful... german engine. i think it was designed with help from german engineers.
pic related is the pinnacle of italian aircraft in WW2. german engine aswell. Sadly very few were ever made, as italy was not near the industrial cappabilities of other countries
Beaufighter is cute
>>74736887
P-47 and P-51 are from the European theater
on the pacific theater its the F4F, a P-51 cant possibly take off from a carrier
>>74736904
nice looking, indeed. Centurio had similar design too.
not my fac, but worth mentioning
>>74736904
Italian planes had shit armament
>>74737003
ah yes, but the G-50 was bigger in production numbeers
i remember there was one italian plane that had the left wing shortened in order to counter-act engine torque wich would automatically steer the plane to left or right if you let go off the stick
there was a great video on the subject, think it was the MC.200 or the G.50
>>74737083
true
they were also underpowered
only MC.202 and some of the least produced ones had at least 50 cals (12.7 mm) or higher
>>74727961
>>74728068
Hellcat > Zero
>>74737157
it was the MC 200, 202 and 205 as well, they all had assimetric wingspans
