Why was it cringey? The incest and sex scenes were pretty good but i guess in general it didn't have much else going for it. I don't like romance/lover stuff anyway. Cringe isn't the right word.

The "I wish fwoggy was my fwiend!"-type posts exist because they're the only way to get a rise out of you. If someone said something like "wish the frogcunt was fucking dead" then you'd be like "Yeah same". Even bringing up your family situation doesn't always work.

Yes. Despite the type of work I do in both places being very similar, the work environments and culture are very different. Over here they don't care what I do as long as I have my daily workload done by close of business every day. As such I'd get the bulk of it done by lunch, and then use any spare time I had in the afternoon to shitpost here or work on non-critical stuff at my own pace. It didn't always work out like that (some weeks are busier than to others), but it was still way less stressful than back home where I always feel like I'm being monitored and there's strict schedules for work delivery. Having a longer, flexible lunch time was also a big plus over here.

I miss my college work placement job where they didn't even care if I went home at lunchtime so long as I got the work done.
I dislike the lack of trust in most wageslavery positions. It always feels like it's creating unnecessary work and stress for everyone when we'd all enjoy our day more and produce the same with a more laid back approach.

I feel this way about the schools. I think a lot of teachers see work as a punishment or a way to keep students in line rather than a method of learning. It only leads to children associating learning with punishment and gaining the desire to avoid it as much as possible.

Not really. Firstly, not many people seemed to do what I did, either because of a lack of desire or bigger workloads (my workload was smaller than what I would normally have back home). Secondly, the bulk of the meetings took place in the afternoon, so you were rarely sitting at your desk from lunch time until close of business anyway.

>More flexibility as in deciding which one gets to fuck us over?
Yeah because being in the EU is totally not fucking us over in regards to Brexit. Polish butthurt and French protectionism totally isn't going to skullfuck our economy.

More flexibility as in being able to sign trade deals with whomever we want to without needing to deal with the southern European bullshit or French protectionism.

If we were in the EEA rather than the EU, we could negotiate a free trade deal with the US or Russia or any number of countries.

As it stands, we have to negotiate everything as a 28-member bloc, and we're subject to the whims of the other members.
>>
>>74676734
Gain the ability to make free trade deals with much more powerful countries that don't need us and would be reluctant to give in to our demands, while at the same time losing our free trade with 28 of our neighbours.

When most people started getting that that's where the change in RTE began anyway, as they now had to compete with a much bigger worldwide audicene which sort of just led them to producing the same content and importing it, which made them lose their uniqueness and become like other TV channels, most of which feel somewhat similar in a sense.

There were a few weird ones, one of the main Sky channels definitely had some early morning anime block of entry level stuff like DBZ and Pokemon, I remember that it was the start of gen 3 they had with Pokemon, although I think I'm a bit younger than most of the thread here now at 21. Then I remember one of the Christian religion channels used to show Felix the Cat at half seven in the morning, and before that a constant repeat of the same Christian concert for months. Then you have all the Muslim channels converting the UK. Lots of the kids channels showed weird shit at night too, then you had Pop and their network of kids channels which probably cost a couple of pounds to run every year, the fun never ends with night time TV like night time internet.

Pretty sure Fox Kids turned me into a weeb. It was the first thing we put on after getting the Sky box. Think it was around 2:40~ish, Sailor Moon was on and Digimon was on after. It was also great for Medabots and Hamtaro and their Power Rangers marathons were fucking legendary.
Looking back I didn't watch much anime on Toonami, in fact looking back the only actual anime I watched on it was Pokémon. Though to be fair Toonami was over saturated with Cartoon Network spillover.

Used to hate this, a lot of time when a non animated show was on I turned the TV off.
>top 30 hits
Seeing as you mentioned this I might as well bring this up, I remember some song released around 2001 which was on a chart and had an animated video about a kid in a forest in a van Gogh painting like style at night, and he was walking into the forest, it might have been there, any of you know what this is?
Another thing I've been looking for for years is some animated TV show or movie which had a similar style to the animated Hobbit movie or The Last Unicorn. There was a group of kids in some cave or dungeon system, most of the walls were rock and brown, and there were monsters there who were turning the kids into monsters, the one scene I remember pretty well was some kid who was chained to a wall turning into a monster with his feet getting bigger first and them growing out towards the screen direction. This might not have been on RTE but I can't find fucking anything about this, do any of you recognise this if it exists?

A lot of alien/ghost shows honestly terrified me. Sometimes if I watched them alone I was too scared to move. Then one night my and my dad were watching this show about a ghost baby haunting a house. It all seemed fine until the end of the show when they mentioned this took place in Galway. At that moment we knew it was utter bullshit. Not only because non of the locations they showed looked anything like Galway but also because they made it out that this was now some massive story in Galway when we had never heard of it until now.
Still get spooked from time to time though.

Most of our mythology was only written about in the middle ages by monks after Ireland had already been Christian for hundreds of years. They changed a lot of the gods to fairies and shit to lessen the pagan aspect. It's a shame because the church did nothing, we were just obsessed with Christianity the moment we got it.

I meant that as opposed to other countries that got crusaded into giving up their religion or had their government make it law, the Irish people went mad for Christianity because of what a foreign slave told them.

>citations please about the fairies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuatha_D%C3%A9_Danann
>Much of Irish mythology was recorded by Christian monks, who modified it to an extent. They often depicted the Tuath Dé as kings, queens and heroes of the distant past who had supernatural powers or who were later credited with them.[5] Other times they were explained as fallen angels who were neither good nor evil.[6] However, some medieval writers acknowledged that they were once gods.
I'm fairly sure I heard of some other Irish mythological beings being turned into fairies but not enough that I care to look into at this hour.

>I meant that as opposed to other countries that got crusaded into giving up their religion or had their government make it law, the Irish people went mad for Christianity because of what a foreign slave told them.
Well, apart from the Baltic countries and to a lesser extent the G*rmanic countries, even though there were church-state relationships, it can't be described as totally top-down, given the history, or perfectly "clean" in Irish history. Irish chiefs adopting it would have helped it along, just as monasteries and churches on the continent would have inspired communities like they did here.
Ironically we'd have a better picture of the history of a good part of "the dark ages" and possibly more stories of the legends if G*rmanic Pr*testants hadn't destroyed the monasteries.

>They often depicted the Tuath Dé as kings, queens and heroes of the distant past
Modern anthropology/prehistory says basically the same thing though, and it would be the most straightforward conclusion to make. It might not even have been a rewriting per se, just a correction of muddled prehistory.

Also by fairies I was more specifically talking about the creatures who stole children and piled rocks together into hills. From what I'd picked up, they were supposed to be hostile goblin-like creatures, not superhumans.
>>
>>74681881
>Modern anthropology/prehistory says basically the same thing though, and it would be the most straightforward conclusion to make. It might not even have been a rewriting per se, just a correction of muddled prehistory.
You remind me that many people theorise a lot of ancient gods like Zeus were ancient kings that got deified over the ages, which even happened to people as late as the third century. It's funny to think that perhaps they were ancient rulers that got passed through legend as gods then rewritten as kings and queens again.

>Also by fairies I was more specifically talking about the creatures who stole children and piled rocks together into hills. From what I'd picked up, they were supposed to be hostile goblin-like creatures, not superhumans.
Fairy can have a broad definition. Sometimes it's as simple as "creature with magical powers".
