This actually opens some new doors for me. I know my family came to the state we live in because there were three boys from the family who came from Sweden during a famine, ages 19, 16, and 10. At a Swedish-immigrant-owned cafe in Chicago, the older two told the youngest boy they would go out to find jobs and be back for him by that night. They never came back for him, so the cafe owner took care of him for a week. When it became clear they weren't coming back, he sent the 10 year old to live with his impotent brother's family on their farm in the northern end of California. That 10 year old eventually took over the farm, married the local Lutheran priest's daughter, and raised my grandfather and his siblings. We never figured out what ever happened to the older brothers who left my great grandfather alone in that cafe, but from the looks of it, they settled in Illinois and a couple of them migrated elsewhere. I'm pretty sure I know the people in Idaho and Florida, too.

Weird thing is that my last name is German, yet we only show up in the US and China...
Not sure what's weirder, the fact that according to this, it's entirely likely I've met everyone in my country that has my surname, or that there's actually 379 of us on the entire fucking planet.
Also, I have exactly two Czech relatives, apparently. What the hell.
>>74641266
