Yeah, a lot of people get you mixed up with gypsies who came here from Romania, who are are also called Roma people. It got to the point where "Romanian" ("Rumun" in Polish) can be used as a slur (only uneducated bydło people use it that way though), it has a pejorative feel to it (similarly with "Jew", but that's another story :D).
