I definitly agree, but I am grateful for everything that does not go the route of pic related and in the case of scandinavian architecture you should be mindful of the fact that most of the time its cold and dark there, so maybe the garish wooden houses get dimmed by the enviroment most of the time and thus dont look as lala-landish as it appears to you.

I always gorge my eyes on the dutch countryside when I happen to travel there with the train as they build these endless rows of cute brickwork, or more futuristic but still beautiful social brickhousing that fits in neatly.
On the other hand it probably means you dont have much saying in the way a house looks that you task to build, im still torn about whether that is a necessary sacrifiece or an unfair restriction. I shudder if I see places were you walk through assymetrically placed houses warying from traditional to american mac mansion, dubious cladding or pic related all aside each other making you feel as if you would wander through some kind of bizarre life-sized exhibition.

the porch could be indoor space instead
all you need is a little roof right over the door, to cover from the rain while you unlock the door

American houses in the suburbs are nice, but can get lonely sometimes. These are houses in a middle class neighborhood in Northern California.
>>74627677
Fuck that houses in California are way too much that house is probably $350,000+. Based Texas has cheaper homes for middle class families.
>>74627524
Depends on the climate. Some regions actually relied heavily on porches to keep the inside in a shade and cooler before the advent of the air conditioning. Often the porch ran along two of three sides of the house, and on classic southern estates they had porches all the way around the house on both levels.

Heh. I'll suffer through a European Caliphate before I move to god damn Florida.
This is the average home a black or mexican family homes depends on income however. This is located in Compton I think.

typical average house here.
Middle class Greeks usually live in condominiums like this in the suburbs. Balkan filth migrants and asian migrants live in the center of Athens in much shittier houses.
>>74616634
California doesn't count for the average American home.

so most people never really know their neighbors since there's hardly ever an opportunity to have to talk except maybe people who live immediately next to you.

Not a one

I've noticed Europe tends to have more apartment buildings which look like a single house.
This is the closest thing to that I can think of, even then it's still obviously not a single family residence.
>>74614958
Glad I'm not Korean...
You live in commie housing yet you're not even North Korean...
I don't think Korea has a higher population density than Japan does it?
>>74641137
My guess is because those houses used to be for extended families and were later transformed to apartments, sad as it may be
>>74641222
What do you think caused it? Families getting smaller or people moving around more?
I've noticed Americans move around the country more and there's more of an expectation to move out of your parents house as soon as you're done with your education.
>>74641257
My grandparents used to have a big, 4 stories house in the middle of a small city, with a big garden where they'd gros vegetables, raise chicken, etc
Then their 4 children moved out and it was just the 2 of them in the house
They eventually sold it (well the children did) because my grandpa died and my grandma couldn't climb stairs
Didn't even sell it entirely: they split the plot in 2, sold the big house and built a flat, 1-story house on the other part
>>74614473
Why have you installed ladders for the convenience of burglars? Is this the logical conclusion of "don't shoot muggers, just let them take your wallet?"
