Serious question, if a soldier or politician was to out right commit treason in a country where it's fully abolished would they seriously not get death penalty, even if it was to the scale of say selling Nuclear codes?

I'm against torture and support death penalty.

It's the only sensible punishment for acts of ultimate savagery and feral criminals like murdering another person with premeditation and/or for financial gain.

Execution should be quick and humane ie. shooting squad
But I see no reason for people like that to remain a burder on society for the rest of their miserable and worthless lifes.

>>74489802
Traitors and other super high-risk or high-profile criminals don't go to Jamal jail. They go to ADX Florence.

>>
>>74490098
>a burder on society
The problem lies in wrongful convictions. I'd say it's more burdensome to know that I'm part of a society that murdered someone for a crime they didn't commit than it is to pay a bit more in taxes. I'm also against it philosophically, but that's just because muh Catholicism.
>>
>>74490085
>shooting squad
>quick
do you know why in the past it had to be an actual squad shooting?
many people don't have it in themselves to murder a person. ye's it's murdering the criminal. so some captain (i forgot from which country) aligned the soldiers in a row so nobody would know who actually gave the fatal shot
not to mention that guns weren't precise back then so if it was a squad someone would eventually hit the executed

>>74490126

>>
>>74489730
"May" ? Where are you getting that number from? And yes, even if it was true I still think that's an acceptable margin of error. Death penalty should be applied to many crimes, no reason for me to pay to keep criminals alive.

And before you use that argument that it costs more to kill them, that's just because we aren't doing it properly. People condemned to death should be executed in the days following the sentence, by a bullet in the back of the head, hanging, or the guillotine. In the central courtyard of the prison, to teach a lesson to other inmates.

>ADX Florence
>Inmates spend 23 hours a day locked in their cells and are escorted by a minimum of three officers for their five hours of private recreation per week.[19] Each cell has a desk, a stool, and a bed, which are almost entirely made out of poured concrete, as well as a toilet that shuts off if blocked, a shower that runs on a timer to prevent flooding, and a sink lacking a potentially dangerous tap. Rooms may also be fitted with polished steel mirrors bolted to the wall, an electric light that can be shut off only remotely, a radio, and on rare occasions, a black-and-white television that shows recreational, educational, and religious programming.[20] In addition, all cells are soundproofed to prevent prisoners from communicating with each other via Morse code.

>The 4 in (10 cm) by 4 ft (120 cm) windows are designed to prevent inmates from knowing their specific location within the complex because they can see only the sky and roof through them, making it virtually impossible to plan an escape. Inmates exercise in a concrete pit resembling an empty swimming pool, also designed to prevent them from knowing their location in the facility.[21] The pit is only large enough for a prisoner to walk 10 steps in a straight line, or 31 steps in a circle.

>In extreme cases of inmate misbehavior, the center of the prison houses an area known as "Z-Unit" or "The Black Hole," which can hold up to 148 prisoners in completely darkened and fully soundproofed cells. Each Z-Unit cell is equipped with a full set of body restraints that are built directly into the concrete bed.

Short of Christ Himself testifying to the accused's guilt, I won't take that risk. Even if someone confesses, I think it's wrong, as they might just be mentally ill or being compelled to give a false confession.
The only exception I make is for traitors in the battlefield, because that's not an issue of criminal law. Military justice is its own thing.

Death penalty is way more frightening and thus intimidating to criminals than life in prison.

Some retards cannot understand the concept of life imprisonment until it his them on face, but the concept of death penalty is immediate and thus make them think twice of torturing and killing people.

Death penalty saves lives, except the lives of criminals.

With DNA evidence the margin of error for murder cases is extremely low.

I think anything with a high degree of malicious premeditation, torture, or murders of multiple people should be up for the death penalty.

At least in NC (where court battles have stopped the death penalty for a decade now) you have to majorly fucked up to be on death row and the jury has to unanimously decide it's worthy of death. If there is a single person that says no it's a life sentence and there is no re-trail for life/death.
