Nah he wasn't directly responsible.
He was a weirdo with a mental illness that somehow sleazed his way into a royal family and played it for what he could.
Then he took forever to die.

he was extraordinarily intelligent
no doubt he could've been a groundbreaking scientist or mathematician but his desires were machiavellian so that's how his intelligence manifested itself

Great beer
There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the bible like a preacher, full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher women would desire
Ra-Ra-Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra-Ra-Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

>Is Rasputin responsible for what became of Russia
Russian Empire was fucked way before Rasputin was born. I think Tsarist autocracy was the root of all our problems. In addition 80% of population were slaves up to 1864 when serfdom was abolished. And yet those base-born were lacked of basic rights, for example they couldn't even get a proper education (even if they somehow would have manage to get money).
>Count Ivan Davidovich Delyanov
>On June 18, 1887, he issued a circular, which would limit the admittance of children of the non-noble origin to the gymnasiums. According to this document, gymnasiums and progymnasiums had to restrict the enrollent of children of people of lower classes.

It's funny how that's about the year Brits made their public education mandatory.
