Very common, at least in the southeast and south. Most of them are all-you-can-eat, there's a buffet with salads/side dishes/desserts and the servers go around offering various cuts of meat.

Here too. We have tons of Rodízios and a lot of Brazilian menus in otherwise Portuguese-themed restaurants.

Which is freaking odd, because we have no Spanish dishes anywhere. I guess culinary, being a home-reminding thing, follows family closer than geography.

It seems to me that Brazilian food's biggest draw is Portuguese (as you'd expect), but it largely became a thing of it's own - a lot more than American did, since you guys mostly collected European recipes and modified them a bit.

It helps that Brazil's fauna/flora is a lot more plentiful than America's.

When I lived there, feijoada was literal heaven.
Or just the black beans we got at the campus cafeteria (my parents were university teachers), to this day I cannot find black beans that tasted like that. It was amazing.
