there is no modifiers or conjunctions that goes with some of these linguistic nuances other languages have, in english these things are seemingly random to someone who is not exposed to the usage, so the best remedy is exposure to speech through media or some such

>Exploratory wind-tunnel experiments in high-subsonic and transonic flow on a conventional airfoil with oscillating flap and a supercritical airfoil oscillating in pitch are described. In the analysis of the experimental results, emphasis is placed upon the typical aspects of transonic flow, namely the interaction between the steady and unsteady flow fields, the periodical motion of the shock waves and their contribution to the overall unsteady airloads. Special attention is paid to the behaviour of the supercritical airfoil in its "shock-free" design condition. Moreover, it is discussed to what extent linearization of the unsteady transonic flow problem is allowed if the unsteady field is considered as a small perturbation superimposed upon a given mean steady-flow field. Finally, the current status of unsteady transonic flow theory is reviewed and the present test data are used to evaluate some of the recently developed calculation methods. Sorry for the bad english.

This isn't true at all. We have less formalised rules as to how to express politeness, but pretty much every keigo concept has some analogous concept in English. There are socio-political reasons that manners and hierarchy have been relatively de-emphasised in Anglophone cultures, but that doesn't mean that they aren't there.

I said they don't matter as much as in japanese, I didn't say they don't matter at all. You need to mind every sentence in japanese according to politeness level, in english, as long as you are not rude, you can construct basic structure more or less the same way.

Listen, fellow: over-use of friendly terms such as "chap", "lad", and "mate" can give the impression that one is being unfriendly. But pay it no mind, cobber; it was nought but a query.

>>74402236
If tone or register vary between sentences, then you will come across as inappropriate, disrespectful, incompetent, etc.. One must pay attention to context in order to avoid blunders. As for basic structure remaining constant: it's true of Japanese, too. The foundations of grammar don't change; just some vocabulary and forms are modified.

Look, senpai, I got it. You are a subject of the king/queen/whatever royalty you worship nowadays. But you have to face it now, the level of sophistication of the english language just isn't as high as it used to be, today we can call others things like 'lads', 'guys' and 'buddies' without sounding rude (unless we are talking to our bosses). Now, if you disagree, go ahead and answer to that nip that mentioned earlier, which one is more polite: "thank you very much" or "thank you so much". And then say if it is a question someone who has just started learning should sweat over.

Also, OP, you speak English ten times better than American niggers whose native is English! Great job. (To be honest I've always wanted to talk with someone who speaks language with no alphabet, it's very interesting)
>>
>>74403250
In Australia being overly polite at any time will often annoy people. In most situations, being very casual is what's considered appropriate. For example, when the Queen was introduced to the Australian cricket team one year, one of the players stuck his hand out and said "G'day, how ya going" because that's what you do in Australia.
Being overly stuffy or polite will give people the impression that you think you're better than them, which is the one thing people cannot stand here. It stems from the country's convict history.

I don't know what it's like in other anglophone nations beyond England, where you vary which you'd use depending on the class the other person is from.
>>
From what I understand, Americans can be quite formal at times. They call male adults "sir" all the time or their university lecturers "professor", while we're on a first name basis with them here.
>>
>>74403358
Also the surnames. Mr Smith, instead of John. Does it happen in australia as well?

English grammar with leaf

First of all, Your sentence should be

*I don't understand/get prepositions

It's really difficult/hard*

Prepositions are just words used in sentences to describe where the noun, or thing, happens to be.

Examples

I am IN the car
I am UNDER the bridge
The box is ABOVE the boat

There isn't a rule on what proper word to use. For example, you say "IN a car" but you say
"ON a plane". Ask for more information.
