Time it correctly and you won't need to, Sandy Bridge still works nicely 6 years later because of Intel's complacency

Just get a hyper-threaded/6+ core processor and pick up a good Pascal card and start saving for an upgrade a couple of years down the road

No, I only own a PC.

Don't own consoles, have gaming tier pcs but don't game on them. If i want I just watch youtube streams about the games on 2x speed. No hassle hiding or attacking monsters, can watch on my tablet lying down, also saves time with the doubled playback rate.
