If you want to visit France, Africa and the South Pacific, learn French.
If you want to visit Spain or Latin American countries (Colombia, Argentina, USA, etc), learn Spanish.

It's not hard.

What if I want to visit Spanish speaking countries, but also am into French literature? What do given the circumstances? In all honesty, I'd love to learn both but gotta choose one thing at a time.
>>
>>74160849
Get interested in spanish literature instead?

Aside from Don Quixote, no such thing. Shit-tier not included.

Learn Spanish If you want to visit Spanish-speaking countries. You can always read Rimbaud in a language you understand, and later read him in the original French. Or use a dictionary. But you need at least some spoken Spanish if you must interact with people.

Read some of the worck of Gabriel García Márquez. It is very good.

No, it isn't.

Learn both. Similar grammar structure, massive resources and very valuable. I grew up in Texas so Spanish is easy for me. My secondary concentration in college was French, you know more than you think. Both is the best answer.

In South America, French is common after English and the locals like speaking it.

garcia marquez is no proust

If you think I'm philistine then you're deeply wrong.

Spanish is easier to learn and more useful, as it has more native speakers than even English.
