No major yet, but thinking about archaeology. Open to anything. Wouldn't dream of minoring in Spanish, only taking it because I'm required to have 3 semesters of a language.

It's pretty good, yeah. It doesn't have the amenities of a lot of other elite unis due to low endowment, but it's okay. It's major expensive though, the most expensive in the US (don't let the media trick you, there are hidden fees left and right, it amounts to about 70k).

I got in here on a need based scholarship and because I tried really hard in school. I had good AP scores, decent test scores (31 ACT, 1870 SAT), and wrote really good essays. I got the scholarship and now I'm here.

I did no extracurriculars other than a 1 year stint in student government (which was nothing at my school), I got in purely based on academics and poverty.

Take IB classes and do well on tests.

You see that they're hiking the tuition again this year, room and board being $70,600. There's a bunch of hidden costs, so next year it's more like 73k or so. It's only going to get worse, a top tier private uni is probably going to be over or near 100k by 2020.

I planned to take that many all the way from 8th grade and I would have taken more if I had my way. I took every single AP course we offered (other than AP Spanish, lacked prereqs) and then in senior year I took two online (AP World and AP Human Geo).

We were renting an apartment in Charlotte back in 2008 and my mom had a job with Wachovia. Then the financial crisis hit, the bank folded and laid off a bunch of people and my mom lost her job. We had to go stay with a friend, that didn't end up working out, so a friend in Alaska flew us out there and then kicked us out on the street in the dead of winter. We were homeless for a few months, it sucked.

You can do up to three majors here if you're insane, but most just double major if they want multiples. I'd say just do a major and 1 or 2 minors. I'm not sure about how many since I don't know my major yet.
