Nah, I'll take DS9's ending over Voyager's any day. Voyager was great too, but the ending felt like they went "eh, we're too lazy to write the rest of the story, let's just cut to the end and patch it up with some time travel shit." It kinda came out of left field, IMHO. Nothing really led up to it, it was weird.

I lost almost $100 worth of carbon arrows sighting my bow in. Started out shooting at an old folded up mattress in my back dooryard. Woods all around me and I lost one and broke a few on trees. But, once you get it dialed in nothing is more satisfying. Then getting a big game animal within 35 metres and double lunging him with a weapon that feels like an extension of you is the best hunting experience ever. Definitely worth all the investment, headache, hassle, and time.
Nowadays I default to my bow and only pick up my 30.06 when my freezer is empty, season is late, and I'm desperate. I have even started practising with flu-flu arrows and will try upland bird hunting with them this Autumn.

lotta reasons, we couldnt solidify diplomacy abroad, the state armies all worked independently of eachother and didnt coordinate enough, the north also had a lot more industrial capacity

but the biggest blow was when the yankees divided the war in half by blockading the mississippi

on the west side the indians and frontiersman did a lot better than state armies on the east side, but it didnt matter at that point

in the south the population was actually dense as fuck, the mississippian peoples in the american south had some pretty advanced agriculture and their slash and burn farming left meadows that artificially inflated the turkey and deer populations

but then when hernando de soto landed in the south (and then literally went all over from the carolinas to arkansas), he spread disease like a motherfucker, conservative estimates of how many indians were wiped out are around 70%, the high estimates put it around 90%, it was a genuine civilization destroying plague

then when white settles arrived the indian population was so low that they met relatively little resistance at first from people who had essentially been forced to revert to hunter gatherers (in the south theres actually a huge gap in the history of colonization from the 1500s to the early 1700s but i havent gotten around to reading my book on that yet)

they also adapted to white farming techniques (the five civilized tribes were bros) and were the first native americans to develop their own writing system

but then they got expelled west by andrew jackson (which to gain favor from southern aristocrats in georgia and alabama and a few other places where whites wanted to take indian land)

after that they had their own state (indian territory) for a while, but they sided with the confederacy since they'd always had better dealings with the state governments as a whole as opposed to the feds who regularly fucked them over, but then when the confederacy lost they were stripped of their lands and forced onto the genuine garbage reservations

which was a shame because the indians in the western theatre of the civil war were brutally effective, a cherokee general actually went undefeated throughout the entire war
