It's widely considered in Spanish history that the explosion of Maine was either an accident or provoked by the Americans.

The US-Mexican war exploded due to land disputes along the rio grande.
Mexico claimed land north of the Rio grande, but by treaty, the US owned that land. Mexico simply decided to ignore the treaty, and even claim all of texas for mexico. The initial skirmishes started in American lands north of the Rio grande. Mexico started it.

Even if the US was being provocative and taunting Mexico. that isn't a false flag.

He didn't. There were some hints and the partially broken japanese codes, hinted to a japanese attack.

But Roosevelt, and no one in the US government knew where or when the attack was to take place. If there was an attack, most assumed it would be at the US asiatic fleet base in the philippines.

The Japanese under complete radio silence attack the US. Even if Roosevelt had known the attack was coming, he didn't know when, and even if he had prepared for it. it still doesn't change the fact that the Japanese would have attacked pearl harbor.

Maybe a few less casualties, but the fact is the japanese attack first. that isn't a false flag.

Declassified documents show the US was aware of the Japanese conducting surveillance on Pearl Harbour as of December 4th, 1941. This would have been cause for an increase in guard of Pearl Harbour. But nope, the exact opposite happened. Half the Pacific fleet, including all the newer ships, were sent out into the Pacific for "patrol". Conveniently leaving only older ships, many decommissioned already, to be destroyed in the attack.

Half the fleet wasn't on patrol, only the aircraft carriers. Of which one was under maintenance in california, one was in training around the philippines, and the other (the enterprise) was on it's way back from the wake island to Hawaii. The US wasn't about to have it's 3 aircraft carries in the same place, it has never done that, and still doesn't do that. It's a cycle of maintenance, training, reserve.

What you call "patrol" is considered training. You do know ships aren't made to just stand around right? The US had bases in the philippines, and needed them supplied. Anyways, Half the fleet being under maintenance of reserve, and the other half in training is absolutely normal.

So, first you say that security wasn't raised, but then you say that conveniently, all the newer and better ships were at sea patrolling the islands and US bases? Don't you see a contradiction here? Just because the Base itself wasn't on high alert didn't mean that they weren't taking measures. They didn't know WHEN the attack was going to take place, so it's not like they could have the finger in the trigger for months on end.

I checked all the ships sunk in Pearl Harbor. Not ONE of those ships was decommissioned before the attack. They were all relatively new, less than 30 years old, and some as new as being commissioned in 1939.

From the pic, you can tell that the enterprise was in the area, and actually fought in the battle.
Just because it wasn't at port, ready to be destroyed out of only 3 carrier in the pacific, doesn't mean that it was planned out.
