the good parts are good. but the bad parts are REALLY fucking bad. too much meaningless stuffing. the production value goes down as the seasons progress, even though the show grows more successful. i can recommend the first season easy. but the later seasons are much harder to.

obviously Breaking Bad, Sopranos, The Wire. Westworld. can't go wrong with any of these.

I'm in inclined to agree sort of I really love the first season it's something I kinda watch yearly, the characters and narrative is all interesting to watch fall into place. Season 2 isn't that bad especially when the Special FBI agent gets involved but it basically sets the foundation for the rest of the show where all it seems to be is the brothers getting themselves into problems one after the other, it becomes cliche.

As for Omar, Some Shia like to attack him as a muslim for the stuff he did before he was a muslim, such as trying to kill the prophet, being a degenerate, womanizer, etc. Sunni's acknowledge all this stuff too and talk about it as well, but attribute it more to how Omar used to be this person before he was a muslim, and how he changed from this sinful person into the muslim Omar who was the prophets best friend and one of the best and most devoted muslims after converting.
Shia also like to say that Omar killed the unborn child of Fatimah, Mohammad's daughter and Ali's wife by attacking Fatimah and breaking her ribs when Abu Bakr sent Omar to their house to get them to swear allegiance to Abu Bakr.
I am not sure what Sunni's think of this though, if they don't believe this event ever happened or what. But regardless of whether it happened or not, Omar was only a human being, and as such was no perfect man. But I still respect him a lot for all the good he did, and for being a companion and friend of the prophet ra and for bringing Islam to Persia and destroying pre islamic Persia.

As for specific good things that Omar did, since I am not a sunni I am not educated enough on the sahabah to answer this. But based on videos I have seen detailing the life of Omar Ibn Al Khattab and what I have heard from sunni sheikhs, I still have a favorable view of Omar despite also acknowledging that he was not as perfect as Sunni's try to make him and Abu Bakr out to be. But yeah overall I like Omar. His conquest of Persia also gives him big points to me and a lot of Iranian shia.
Also both Khamenei and Sistani have issued nearly identical fatwas forbidding the insults of Omar and the other companions.

Many of the things people like to attack Islam for today, Zoroastrians actually did, and the religion and empire were unpopular at the time and if Islam didn't exist Persia would have eventually become Christian.
You might not know this, but prophet Mohammad pbuh had multiple Persians among his companions, who helped him spread Islam in the Arabian peninsula, and also helped Omar invade Persia in the name of Islam. Many of the people who lived in Persia welcomed the muslims and fought with them over their Zoroastrian oppressors, and converted rather peacefully.
The way Omar died was a Zoroastrian I believe asked him to get his owner to reduce the payments he had to give him. Omar instead told him to be good to his master. But without telling this Zoroastrian, Omar went to his master and convinced him to lower the fees his slave had to give him. The Zoroastrian slave did not know of this though, and in his rage that Omar would not help him, he murdered Omar as he prayed, then committed suicide.
When Omar was on his deathbed, he said that if Salem (a Persian companion of the prophet) were alive, Omar would've made him the next Khalifa. But since Salem died earlier the 3rd Khalifa become Uthman.
Salman Al-Farsi (the first persian who converted to islam) ended up becoming governor of Persia after the Sassanid empire fell.
