we just use "-ción" instead of "ção"
we have a rule were before "e" and "i" there cant be a Z, and we put a C instead "nazer - nacer"
and a lot of words that were written with V in medieval text ended up with B in spanish "cavalleria". its assumed that V and B were pronounced differently in medieval times, and spanish always wanted to regulate that everything must be typed the way its spoken without room for misinterpretation, something that english and french could use.

Nasal vowels arent a good idea imo. If you are not used to them producing them seems kind of ridiculous. Joao is the weirdest rendition of Ioannes.
and Portugues has eliminated that Latin consonant clusters that are still common in Spanish.
Setembro for Spanish Septiembre, Outubro for Octubre, imovel for inmueble etc.
When Argentines go on vacations to Brazil and read the signs on the street it also looks simplified to us.

What I like about Portuguese a lot is all the contractions you use.
