how did you get such a good flag
How similar are you to Costa Rica, and how? (could you give me concrete examples please?)
And to Colombia?

When we were separating from Colombia, Philippe Bunau-Varilla proposed flag in pic related. It was so ugly, that it was unanimously rejected.

The Panamanian flag was born the night of November first, 1903 and arose almost immediately from the imagination of Manuel Encarnacion Amador who had a recognized ability as a draftsman.
The flag represented the political moment of the time, showing the two traditional parties of the Isthmus (the Liberal and the Conservative party), who had made fierce struggles in the past and deposed their hatreds in an atmosphere of peace, to make a nation. The white color represents peace. The stars represent the purity and strength that govern the civic life of the State on its way to the realization of the destinies of humanity.
Is Panama really economically free? Do you notice this in your daily life?

The flag became what it is now in 1904.

>Costa Rica
You could say that we are pretty diferent, even oposites. But, as the saing goes, opposites atract each other. Both, Costa Rica and Panamá are small countries with little population who separate from biger countries. Through out our history we have tend to get each other back. We just kind of like each other very much.

Yeah

Our football is not very good, tho it is quite popular. Nevertheless, Baseball is the national sport.

>Colombia
Panama was part of Nueva Granada. When Venezuela and Ecuador separate, we tried aswell. In fact from 1840 to 1841 El Estado del Istmo was independent from Bogota.
To this day, there is no conection between Panama and Colombia by land. Back in the day, it was way easier to get from Panama to Lima, than to get to Bogota, actually.
Now, I do not deny in any way that we have a strong cultural relation with Colombia, but as Justo Arosemena pointed out in the middle of the 19th Century, Panama is its own state.
Sorry for the ramble.

>>73649173

You mean the Cinta Costera?
No, I live in a suburb like pic related. But I go there from time to time.
Fun fact:
In Panama cars were rode to the left hand, British style, until 1943.

Oh, thanks lad.

why panama is still poor even though you have all this inflow of capital as fiscal paradise and benefit from the canal traffic?
