Because it could not been further to the truth. In Eastern Europe, everyone are well-eat, all know how to read, the environment isn't polluted, poverty is non-existent (your "poorness" is a meme compare to almost everywhere else), and natural disasters almost never react here.

The environment is pretty polluted actually. Heavy industry does that. As for poverty, you're right that people are not dying of hunger but quite a lot of them can't afford a living that Western Europe would consider decent. As for natural disasters, well, Russians happened.
