Chinese and other Asian words are fucking stupid. You gotta memorize all these big ass stupid over complicated symbols and be able to write them down just to say "car".
Every word in Chinese has its own stupid ass fucking symbol. That's some fucking Egyptian Hieroglyph-tier shit.
In English you got just 26 letters which cover every noise the human mouth can create. SMART. Re-arrange these 26 simple letters in order to make literally every fucking word.
Chinese is fucking stupid.

Looks like a pain in the neck to read (especially from afar) and write in Mandarin.
At least you can write Roman alphabet in cursive pretty fast.
There are 214 official radicals which make up some 50,000 odd characters, of which maybe 5,000 are actually used in the modern language.
214 radicals for Chinese.
26 letters for English.

>You gotta memorize all these big ass stupid over complicated symbols and be able to write them down just to say "car".
And how the fuck is it different from english where letters composing a word are pronounced differently in every fucking word?
English is as logogramic as Korean where unchanging tiddy bits (representing letters) compose a complete word and represent a particular sound.
Polish and many other european languages are phonetic.
They're pronounced as they're written.

No, it's not. The situations are entirely different and mainland China already did reform their written language. 汽车 is 汽車 simplified, to use the example in this thread.

Generally not a problem, you don't need to be able to carefully distinguish every part of the character to recognise it.
Plus in a text you'd need to be at about the same distance anyway because Japanese contains 漢字 as well.
>>73505047
It ends up being just like reading English or any other language. Do you think Chinese can't read signs and billboards in the distance?
It become more of a matter of being familiar with the general shape of characters/words. We parse chunks, not read letters.

Cantonese speakers write the same way as Mandarin. The only time where that isn't the case is in written Cantonese, which is only used in informal settings (e.g. texting, internet forums). If you know one or the other, it makes learning the other much much easier.

Why hasn't anyone pointed out this bullshit yet?
It just seems to me like you've never had any contact with any other language that isn't English OP and you're the usual retarded ass American that screeches autistically whenever he stumbles upon something that differs from his sheltered American life.
Even American English has dozens of different accents and naturally different phonology within the same fucking base language.
Japanese has a much better and explicit way of writing diphthongs and of course this makes it much easier to read and pronounce them in comparison to English where diphthongs are not commonly written explicitly and you have to guess.
But of course I don't even expect OP to know what diphthongs are because he just likes to talk bullshit about two languages that doesn't know shit about even if one of them is his native language.
Oh also, where's the ñ in English OP?

As a native German speaker, I really have to say that German grammar is nightmare fuel tier.
Compared to that, Chinese language is GOAT. Once you have learned your 20 or so vocabularies, you can already make sentences that are grammatically correct. Compare that to a language with complicated grammar: Even if you know your vocab, you can still speak shit.

>you got just 26 letters which cover every noise the human mouth can create
No. Our 26 letters don't even cover all the sounds we have in English, much less all the sounds humanly possible to produce.
>>73504610
>What about the letters c, a and r used in this combination communicate the concept of a motorised vehicle we know and drive?
Because those 3 letters phonetically match up to the three phonemes that we use in our spoken language to mean "car".
>>73504385
>And how the fuck is it different from english where letters composing a word are pronounced differently in every fucking word?
English is not COMPLETELY non-phonetic. Many words are actually phonetic, and even in the numerous non-phonetic cases, there are a limited number of pronounciation/spelling options. If I hear "tho", the "o" sound can be written only in a limited number of ways in that position (i.e. o/ou/ow/ough; "oa" does make an o-sound, but never word-finally; the word "owe" is a special extention of the "ow" combinatation with the useless french e at the end........but even if I include all of those, you do know it is one of these spellings). Same with guessing the pronunciation of a written word, there is a limited number of options.
Chinese, if I hear "qiche", you will never know how to spell it, unless you already had learned it. But if I asked someone to spell for me the spoken word "car" if they know the English alphabet, they will spell "car" no problem ("kar" is possible, but the guy could know that word-initial k is relatively rare in english)
>>73504204
>trough, though, tough, plough....
>>73504204
>re-arrange these 26 simple letters in order to make literally every fucking word.
Except english gives no clue on how those letters should be arranged in order to form the words you want, so you have to memorize them before, just like Chinese. Well, at least Chinese gives phonetic and semantic clues and is easier and faster to read.
>>73508325
Jesus fucking christ, you're so goddamn stupid. I really hope you're just trolling because I'm having a really hard time trying to believe someone as ignorant as you can figure out how to browse the internet by yourself.

>>73508925
(you)
>>73509130
Radicals have nothing to do with this. We are talking about how effective the writing system is for representing words. If I know all the radicals, and I know the pronunciation and meaning of qiche , I cannot know how to spell the word. I need to have already known how to spell it (I need to have already know what radicals are used and in what positions).
>>73509438
>If I know all the radicals, and I know the pronunciation and meaning of qiche
Ask them how to write it then? Failing that, go look up the pinyin.
