I'm singin' in the rain
Just singin' in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again.
I'm laughing at clouds.
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love.

Let the stormy clouds chase.
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin'
Singin' in the rain

You should leave. This place is too negative and draining and has become a bit of an echo chamber since /pol/ started attracting normies in who see 4chan as a right wing version of reddit. It's hard to have open conversation any more.

4chan predates Reddit so it's certainly not what it was.
But the sites traffic doubled in August 2014 with gamergate and continued to rise with trump so the number of people who have been here less than 3 years and for political reasons is now in the majority so I guess thats what it is now.
>>

Yeah, I miss the old days when 4chan was just a group of mild-mannered and friendly folk who treated each other with warmth and respect.
>>
>>73491257
Nigga even /pol/ hates Milo and makes fun of PJW, they respect them as their allies and nothing more.
>>
>>73491264
4chan used to have an energy about it, people used to care about their posts and wanted what they wrote to be significant. They wanted to create memories or initiatives all the time. There was a time when projects like the 4c cup or /v/ga awards were weekly and threads about them weren't shouted down or labelled as cancer.
Now everyone just seems depressed and bored with life and everything they write. Even the meme cycle has slowed down, the idea that people are still rolling with Pepe 4 years later is sad. It used to be a creative hive but now it just seems to define itself by hating other places and reacting to whatever they do.

Good until you arrive back on Earth. There are some weak plot elements throughout, but some great high points too. Definitely the weakest of the trilogy though.

Is it going to be better than 25% off? And are Bioware Points ever going to be on sale? You'd need to spend more on the DLC than the games themselves it seems.

The ending is absolutely abysmal, but the rest is good. It's definitely better than 1. If it weren't for the ending (and the bizzare plot hole of Shepard's dreams) it'd have a good case of being slightly better than 2.

I hear people like the Citadel DLC but it looks 50% reddit-tier/tumblr-tier "fan service", 25% decent fan service, and 25% lighthearted sci-fi adventure, so I wasn't on board.
I watched the other two pretty thoroughly on youtube.
Leviathan looks shit. There's a clip on youtube of how the end-game conversation changes when you have Leviathan, but the brat just acts unurprised and then the conversation goes as normal, even ignoring what Shepard knew thanks to Leviathan, and going on like the vanilla ending. Pointless DLC.
Javik is fantastic, but it's day one DLC that blocks you out of plot-relevant stuff, not something that builds upon the game as it was on release.

I hold conservative views on certain issues, and for some of them it is not socially acceptable to express them publicly. As Ireland becomes more "progressive", people with conservative views on issue are made out to be the bad guys, "holding the country back", and inherently wrong.

>I'm not sure if they only exist on the internet or if people are just afraid to broadcast them in public.
Both are true.

It's a hobby, a fad, a cult, or a way to vent for most of them. Maybe 0.001% have their shit together. I used to be one and I'm immensely embarrassed by it.
Most far right attacks on the left-liberal mainstream consensus beyond the surface level break down when they're prodded by anything but propagandism (positive or negative). If the left had more intellectual vitality* and weren't on the defensive, maybe far right thinking would have to advance beyond hyper-modern ultra-positivist determinism or tired 19th century Romantic mysticism.
Ask them to stop being a broken record and wow just wowing at the excesses and absurdities of left-liberalism and explain a positive vision of the world, they'll either refer to the nation/race as if it has metaphysical authority (when the question of its existence is already so precarious), or take the positivist route and refer to biological tendencies as if the Darwinian "imperative" is more than a figure of speech and has some kind of moral existence! And those are the ones who actually attempt a philosophical distancing from the meaningless consumer world they decry, and aren't just crass consumers.

*The left is vulnerable because they're overextended and can't respond to "guerrilla campaigns" by fringe thinking, but make no mistake, their weakness also stems from the particular character of their ideology, not just its position in society.
At its root it's an excuse-making or coping mechanism for hedonists (the same way far rightism is generally one for nihilism), and its victory and continued presence are due to the strength, ironically, of global mass market capitalism. A status quo of atomistic consumption is designed for maximum stability and maximum profit. It's not going to be collapsed from within, let alone reformed.

So he was doing his job? Only certain forms of ID are legally acceptable. Shopkeepers that accept other forms of ID are breaking the law and can be caught out in sting operations by the Gardaí. The lad probably just didn't want to risk a brush with the law - I'd do the same.

>thought you were a nationalist paragraph boy
Sort of. I don't believe the theoretical, philosophical justifications people offer for nationalism as an outlook, but I'd lean towards saying that "nationalist" policies tend to be more convincing in how they propose to help the general wellbeing.
It's just that if you start taking the "us vs them" meme as your baseline, you veer into Sim City autism and derail yourself from an understanding of the human condition (which isn't limited by your social delineations). It doesn't help that the vast majority of fringe thinkers are fringe people to begin with.

I read an article the other day which put a lot of thoughts together better than I could.
http://thermidormag.com/sociobiology-as-the-freudianism-of-the-right/

Not that I read much modern stuff, let alone online stuff, anymore. I'm very disillusioned about the possibility or importance of trying to make a utopia. Not to mention the negative consequences of the development of internet communication. It could be the nail in the coffin of humanity as a pack or even herd society, and the beginning of a hive society.

Non sequitur and not an argument. The point was on the philosophical/logical basis for it as a system, something the amount of current years it has seen does nothing to change.
Also laughable in terms of an appeal to tradition. A very shallow historical legacy.

>the ability to keep millions of people connected that would otherwise have fallen sway to external actors' demands.
This is word salad. There is no clear meaning here and that's deliberate, though you're probably not aware of that. You're conflating the fact of cultural awareness and continuity with a set of active ideological worldviews. Same thing low-tier ancaps do when they say "you have property? you're an ancap!".

If you want to have a coherent "nationalism" (and one actually capable of doing what you ascribe to it lol), you'll have to distinguish what is meant by the term from very broad and very basic social phenomena which precede any ideology basing itself on them.

>You [bla bla bla strawman]
Does nothing to address the points I raised about nationalism.
It says more about you than it does about opposition to "nationalism". It suggests you think highly of violence, that it's good for its own sake.

Do remember that this is about national-ISM, not "nation" per se, though if you're touchy about the latter feel free to explain it on a ground level.
I'm not arguing with a dog in the fight. I'd like to have a leg to stand on when it comes to being self righteous though, which is why I'm not a capital-n Nationalist.

>not an argument
It's exactly an argument. You've called it precarious. It has withstood two centuries of social upheaval and economic change, whereas other ideologies have fallen away. It absolutely is a relevant statement, not at all a non-sequitur.

>This is word salad. There is no clear meaning.
Because we're dealing with a belief, not with a fucking maths equation. It's ephemeral, not tangible. You can't measure nationalism, you can only feel it and judge it by its outcome - the outcome being a stronger, more cohesive society. A society that can leverage its influence in ways a divested one cannot. Do you think a nationalist society and a individualist society are truly equal on the scales of power? The nationalist society will persevere, the individualist will not.

>If you want to have a coherent "nationalism"
There is only one nationalism and that is one based fundamentally on an ethnic and cultural background.

>Does nothing to address the points I raised

Because your points were nothing but absolute fucking waffle, as if anyone fucking cares whether you think nationalist romanticism isn't quantifiable.

You had to conflate alt-right quackery with nationalism, as if they two are somehow inextricably linked. You've dismissed ethnicity off-hand (calling it a metaphysical authority), yet we've seen several studies that highlight the link between ethnic homogeneity and social stability (and before you ask, no I'm not going to link them all again, you asked this before several months ago).

Are we supposed to be impressed that you can write a paragraph of nonsense or string words together in an attempt to portray yourself as something other than a fedora tipper?

If you're going to appeal to the argument that nationalism isn't quantifiable, and thus is somehow illogical, then you'll denigrate into AnCap tier retardation.

A society without a nationalist ethos is going to collapse on itself. A society built on nationalism will thrive, ceteris paribus.

Is it bad or is she just getting confused occasionally? We were worried about my granny for a while because sometimes she might not know where she was after waking up or something but she lived to 92 without any lasting problems.

>was your granny alright?
Yeah she was doing pretty well all things considered. One time she thought it was the day of her daughter's wedding (which happened nearly 20 years ago) or another time she asked my mam if I was still sick, then asked my mam who she was. But these were rare occasions.

She was well looked after anyways. She had people visiting her all the time, my mam came in the morning to wake her up and give her tablets, around noon a home help woman would come and give her more tablets. After five one of her daughters would come and clean up, keep her company, bring her groceries, make her dinner and check her tablets (two of them are nurses so they could spot when the home help fucked up), one lived in another county so she usually stayed over when she came while the others would stay anywhere from one hour to until 9 o'clock. I was probably the least helpful of her guests, I usually came down around 9 to watch the news and eat biscuits. Then I'd keep her company until she went to bed, at which point I'd turn off the lights and make sure the doors were locked.
She used to complain that nobody came to see her and me and my cousin would point out that she had more people seeing her in a day than most women her age had in a year.

Sorry if that was longer than you cared to know, I just miss her.

>did she get it properly diagnosed?
Nah it wasn't that bad. Just occasional confusion usually after waking up, which to be fair happens to us all. She went for checkups in hospital but they only did her bloods and whatnot, don't think they ever tested for that.

>but she remembered then at some later stage?
Oh yeah she remembered her again by that evening, but then she didn't remember forgetting her in the first place.

>It has withstood two centuries of social upheaval and economic change
So has every other ideology being bandied about today. Unless you think everything "new" is literally without precedent. Besides, when the argument is whether the ideolog(ies) in question are intrinsically "right", pointing to their longevity AT BEST only suggests a reason for it staying around, not what I was asking. It's this kind of half-truth, dancing-around-the-question, oblique, talmudic non-justification that I was raising issue with in the first place!

>There is only one nationalism and that is one based fundamentally on an ethnic and cultural background.
>There is only one private property economic system and that is one based fundamentally on a particular right to ownership of things.

>Because your points were nothing but absolute fucking waffle
If you could muster anything in response other than exactly the non-answer I predicted, I could be convinced.

>You had to conflate alt-right quackery with nationalism, as if they two are somehow inextricably linked.
Let's look what you're saying here. You're either accusing me of making a generalisation I wasn't making, or declaring attempts to construct a logical framework of nationalism "no true Scotsmen". If you had a better justification for nationalism, you could give it, but you haven't thought this through really, have you, which is my point about nationalism.
>>
>>73508808

I'm also not the guy who asked for studies or whatever before. I know all that stuff.

>You've dismissed ethnicity off-hand (calling it a metaphysical authority)
You've finally responded to my points rather than talking at an SJW boogeyman, good. Sadly, you completely misunderstood what I said.
I was not dismissing ethnicity, and I was not calling it a metaphysical authority, quite the opposite. I was pointing out how implicit in every far right way of thinking is the belief that ethnicity IS a metaphysical authority, when they are not.
You've provided collectively-weighed utilitarian reasons for why ethnicity/nation should be preserved, but that wasn't what I was arguing against. In fact, in an earlier post, I said I was not convinced the policies called "nationalist" policies are not better for the common good, just that theoretical justifications for why people should be nationalist on principle don't hold up in terms of soundness.
So, if you say it's good to preserve established social/kinship structures because it helps people live well, I'd be inclined to agree. But if you say it is good in and of itself, regardless of consequences and above any other moral/philosophical concern, I'd say that better justifications are needed rather than treating these socially defined abstracts as metaphysical mystical authorities, or turning biological determinism into a mask for that belief. I question if one can or should call oneself a "nationalist" if one refuses to believe that.

Re:Creators should be worth trying out for the first 3 episodes at least if the first episode and premise are anything to go by. Also continuing to watch Little Witch Academia and SnK.

Is it really as good as /a/ makes it out to be? I watched the first OVA and didn't think it was great, felt too kiddy.

Surprised how little I heard of this considering how big the first season was. If it's like how I remember the manga being after the events of season 1 then everything after the first few episodes will be boring as hell.

>I read some spoilers on /m/ and now I'm tempted to finish just to see everyone get Tomino'd.
I dunno about /m/, but /a/ did not take the ending well.

>Is it really as good as /a/ makes it out to be?
For the record, I enjoyed the OVAs but didn't think they were as amazing as many people made them out to be. The TV series started off really well, but by episode 6 I had lost interest. I recently picked it up again after missing about 8 episodes, and it does seem to have improved once you get through that mid-cour lull. /a/'s interest in it has definitely declined from what it was before though, but it's still very popular over there. There's a lot riding on cour 2.

>Surprised how little I heard of this considering how big the first season was
4 years is a long time. A lot of fans have been lost in that period.

>If it's like how I remember the manga being after the events of season 1 then everything after the first few episodes will be boring as hell.
Well the Beast titan has just been introduced, so we'll soon have the revelation about Ymir, the Armored Titan, and the Colossus Titan. That should keep things interesting at least. I imagine there to be little downtime for S2 as it is only 1 cour, as opposed to the 2 cours of S1.

I think I've said it before but how the hell did it take them 4 years to come back? I know they made a live action movie and shit during that time but it's still staggering. They could've at least spaced the OVAs out a bit more. I haven't heard anything about it for so long, not even any vidya or spin-offs. And it's not like the studio ran out of money because it wasn't popular or anything.
