I had a great time in Hong Kong by myself. Only needed about 3 days to explore it all. But I got super cheap flights out of Vancouver (guess why, eh), not sure if its worth it for you to fly there for such a short trip. Although you could combine it with other areas.

Southeast Asia is much better with friends
Europe is probably best with a young tour group, but decent for loners as well
