while in capitalism the market (and ppl purchasing things from it mainly) set the demands, in communism the head of the state does or did, now you can argue that is not communism but state capitalism but thats been tried

the only way it can work if its absolutely global, or atleast is the majority, so it doesnt have to deal with contenders

i dont know how else would it be possible to to control the market, i mean there will be a market, since humans traded, there was always one with supply and demand

The real reason why communism doesn't work is the fact that it places all the resources and all the power into the hands of the government. Thus making a dictatorial oppressive government inevitable. I think communism could work if it was practiced by a non-human AI government. Lack of competition could be avoided as well, a government could very well run TWO soap-producing companies instead of one. It would still be communism, but those companies would be competing for government checks. So we just need a good AI. Maybe we'll see communism work half a century from now.

Think about two job options:
1. Sitting at a table all day pushing buttons.
2. Being an underwater welder and risking your neck all day.

If you were in a capitalist society and could choose between the first and being paid 30k/year or the second one and raking 90k/year which one would you choose?

If you were in a communist society and could choose between the first and being paid 10k/year or the second one and raking 10k/year which one would you choose?

By giving more money to make people have a certain job, acquire certain qualifications, produce a certain amount, you make them want to do so. I wouldn't go risk getting thrown around by ocean currents, to spend weeks out of home, to have to learn the trade beforehand, to be paid the same as someone doing paper work in a chair all day.

Communism is all fun and games until you are the one that has to work harder than the average or in risk without compensation. See how many cops, how many farmers, how many tradesmen are commies compared to how many low paid services workers, how many university teachers are commies.
