Why can't Australian's do anything right? They've had 20 years to save the Great Barrier Reef, but now it's going to die and nothing can save it.

they are cultureless subhumans with no connection to that land
australia is a banana republic

How exactly could Australians lower the temperature of the sea?
>>
>>73455870
It's entirely possible to lower the temperature in a localized area. Expensive as hell and impractical, but worth it to save a natural wonder.

>in a localized area.

Are you aware of the size of the Great Barrier Reef?

344,400 km2

That is just under half the size of Texas.

How would you go about cooling that area? Where would you put the excess heat?
>>
>>73456162
The temperature of deeper ocean waters is much cooler than near the surface, so you could construct pipes to move cooler water up and warmer water down. You could also focus on the most heavily bleached parts first. Some of the reef would still die anyway, but at least you could save a good amount of it.

we could stop climate change, but we've decided she'll be right

>344,400 km2

It's called the GREAT Barrier Reef for a reason
>>
>>73456571
It's a good thing you don't need to lower the temperature very much for the corals to stop bleaching then. This sort of thing doesn't work on a global scale, but the GBR is definitively small scale where this kind of cooling would be effective.
https://phys.org/news/2015-03-ocean-pipes-cool-climate.html

It would be expensive and time consuming, but it would save the reef.

evolution mate, who are we to stand in its way
>>
>>73456742
That article is irrelevent
>>
>>73455717
The reef isn't dying, it's all a climate change hoax
>>
>>73457117
How is it irrelevant? It supports exactly what I just said: exchanging deep water with surface water is not viable on a global scale, but works well for small scale problem areas.
