It depends on the speaker but even if there's a subtle difference you won't hear it in a fast conversation

Then there's the aspirated consonants which in theory are okay but many of them have changed and now they are pronounced differently in some words (like written as 배지 but pronounced 빼찌), there's a million words like that, same with the vowels, 오 is often 우, 아 is 어 sometimes and so on.

And then many of these pronunciation rules make it difficult for a beginner to pick up words from a conversation. Like ㄴㄹ cluster changes to ㄹㄹ, ㄱㄴ to ㅇㄴ, ㅆㄴ to ㄴㄴ

Also it's not really a spelling issue but their consonants are very short and ended abruptly so ㅁ and ㄴ may sound like b and d mainly in the beginning of the words

The Korean alphabet doesn't preserve any etymological meaning, making all homophones into homonyms and confusing as fuck.

Major plus imo is that learning kanji (hanja in Korean) is pretty much optional.

Overall I'd say easier to read/write, harder to speak.
