Where do I go to understand the Syrian conflict and surrounding events? Should I just start reading the Wikipedia page?
All you need to know is that America is the good guy

No where because Trump lost his shit because approval dropped below 30%. Bombs an empty airfield to get +80%. DT rinse & repeat every weeks = Trump for 8 more years.

It's pretty simple
There is a subreddit dedicated to following the conflict ,/syrancconflict/ or something like that, there also use to be a thread in /pol/.
Start reading things on it and go from there, the more sources you use the more complete your understanding will be.
Obviously you shouldn't believe everything you read unless there are hard facts or wide consensus on it.

It's very simple: America is beating the war drums of regime change again using MUH CHILLUNS as causus belli, when in fact Assad is the region's best hope at stability. It's going to become Iraq 2.0 very quickly.

Syranconflict is full of shills and communists
It's too complicated to clearly understand, but:
>Obama wanted to overthrow Assad to aid in the spread of democracy
>while some of the anti-Assad rebels were liberal hipsters with phones, many of them were also ISIS who wanted to establish Islamic theocracy in Syria
>now Putin didn't want Assad removed because he's an ally
>so he basically told Obama to fuck off and sent Russian jets to bomb shit
>a lot of civilians died in the process (probably far more than ISIS fighters)
>Trump bombs Assad's chemical weapon stores or some shit
>Putin doesn't like it but most world leaders apparently praised Trump's actions
