So as a matter of fact, the only actual Slavic groups without the stupid unnecessary subdivisions are Czechs, Croats, Poles, Bulgarians and Russians.

To me, among these, only Czechs seem to slightly stand out as better than the rest. The others are roughly on par.

The margin is enormous as society, economy and government simply function. Look at countries that are objectively hopeless, like Bosnia.
Even Croatia has very serious economic and administrative problems they will not be able to solve any time soon.
I'd say out of all the former commie countries only Czechs and Slovenes are doing really well. With Poland doing good generally but lagging behind because of a lack of infrastructure and competitive industry.

I thought we were judging the people, not the countries themselves. A country's well-being is also dependent on its neighbours, therefore it's not a surprise that Slovenia (next to Austria), Czech Republic and Poland (next to Germany) are doing better than the rest.

As people, however, I do not believe Slovenes are innately superior or better than Croats for example. Czechs are a bit above the rest because they managed to shake off religious superstition.
