It wasn't terribly impractical compared to what some countries were using 30 years later, but head protection was a good addition. I don't know, I always found this uniform as a good blend of old-war aesthetic mixed with function, and it would probably hold up all right in today's insurgencies where the people on the ME side are already wearing things worse than what the Ottoman Empire fielded during WWI anyway.

Kind of like how you see soldiers wearing tailored, form-fitting dress suits during parades and parties, while IRL, on the battlefield, they probably wore something more appropriate for war-time conditions.

No they actually wore that on the battlefiled because before WW1, people really did think a battlefield was a place of honor. It's what cause early French casualties of the war to be extra high, while later i believe the Germans lost more men on the western front than the allies
