Is there anybody in the UK so fucking dumb to think that Spain is going to attack Gibraltar and start a war?

Is there somebody in the UK so fucking dumb to think that a country that has been in economy recession for 6+ years, with a small military budget is going to attack an economic superpower like the UK, which result, it is its own ally?

Is there anybody in the UK so fucking dumb to think that we, Spaniards, give a fuck about Gibraltar and the people there?
Seriously? Do you believe your media when they create this things like "lettuce war" or "Spain starting war over gibraltar". It's pure sensacionalism. Your newspaper suck, you should know it already.

What Spain has said, and they've said it in the UE parliament, is that if Brexit happen, then gibraltar is going to leave as well the UE, and there will not be free boders, free movement, free trade and all that stuff. We, (well the spanish goverment, Spaniards don't really care), are proposing a co-sovereignity with the UK, so Gibraltar becomes both Spanish and British and they can still be europeans, which seems more logic due to historical-cultural-GEOGRAFICAL reasons. But the thing is that they are doing it for historical obligation, because there is no social rpessure and nothing to win for politics, its far from the Falklands case.

But the truth is in the end, UK won't accept it, brexit will happen and NOTHING else will happen. Somehow jobs will still be granted between Spain and Gibraltar and the border will be a bit more restrictive with maybe asking for 1 out of 100 passports.

The Netherlands actually became an independent country because the UK stopped harboring Dutch pirates.

So a fleet of Dutch pirates went home to the Netherlands. Liberated a random city where they could set up shop.
And that resulted in a snowball effect where Spaniards got kicked out of cities all across the country.
>>
>>73155977
smuggling, tax haven? i understand it is a tax haven, i am not so sure about smuggling. even so, with the UK leaving the EU, if anything, it will become even more of a tax haven, and if there is smuggling, which was somehow limited by being an EU memeber, I asume there will be more of that too. I don't see how putting up a wall will stop any of this.

it actually does seem like provacation. we left the EU to seize full control of our land(s), now the EU is doing whatever it can to impose further control. it's blatantly poking us with a stick. the tabloids have done an autism about it, but the prime minister laughed about the concept of a war

>>73156149
>However, in 1572, Queen Elizabeth I of England abruptly refused to admit the Sea Beggars to her harbours. No longer having refuge, the Sea Beggars, under the command of Willem Bloys van Treslong, made a desperate attack upon Brielle, which they seized by surprise in the absence of the Spanish garrison on 1 April 1572. Encouraged by this success, they now sailed to Vlissingen, which was also taken by a coup de main. The capture of these two towns prompted several nearby towns to declare for revolt, starting a chain reaction that resulted in the majority of Holland joining in a general revolt of the Netherlands, and is regarded as the real beginning of Dutch independence.

>trade deal
Why do retards keep banging on about this like it's the most important thing ever? Do you really think the UK is going to stop trading with the rest of Europe suddenly if we go to WTO rules? Honestly laughable.

The only way this fucks over the UK is if the EU goes full retard and tries to make an example out of us, which it appears they are going to stupid enough to try and do.
>>
>>73157060
>and tries to make an example out of us
Meaning...? Not giving preferential treatment and bending over britbong tantrums?
>>
>>73157060
Ok that is some insane level of denial

Will trade barriers stop ALL UK-EU trade? No
Will it make an enormous impact on a country that sends 45% of its exports to Europe? Yes

And the British government will go begging for new deals to make up the difference.

You'll be bending over one way or another.

>>73157260
Again, what do trade deals have to do with that? Spoiler: nothing. We're leaving the single market, of course it's going to have some impact.

You have to give them blood, just get half a dozen people (preferably ones you don't like) to charge the guns. When they're shot to shit and dead, they'll stop the bants and move onto something else.

We're the only EU nation holding extended diplomacy with them so i doubt it. But UK is increasingly fast just burning all bridges behind them.

How exactly are we "burning bridges"? Because we don't want to play Germanys sick game anymore?

The EU has played ball here with UK's withdrawal but still UK throws tantrum's left and right for their EU preferentials like you seriously think you're gonna keep them. I'd still like to remind you that EU is the one holding the ball in this matter. And your politicians keep dropping their balls for every and all little issues.
>>
>>73157580
No, they haven't. This whole veto over Gibraltar thing is the opposite of that and doesn't build much good will going into the negotiations.
If the EU is going to "interpret" article 50 to suit it's own agendas, expect the UK to follow suite.

It's exactly for EU's agenda, you're the leaving part and EU's agenda is to make sure you follow the rules of this thing. Which you already threatened to declare war on if you they don't let you keep your special gibmedat tax havens and open borders in gibraltar.

Are you dumb, dumb or just dumb?
>>
>>73157730
I respect EU more now after they tightened ranks regarding Gibraltar. It's a fragile union and they are solidifying it saying; We look after our own.
This isn'T about building good will with you, it's about assuring the 27 that we support each other, and preventive gesture at upcoming divide and rule tactics from UK's negotiating team.

>>
Gibraltar je Serbia!
>>
>>73157777
No, retard, nobody in gibraltar or the uk is seriously expecting business as usual. But the Spanish position is "give us co-sovereignity or else we seal it off and refuse any planes access to our airspace" and the EU position is "Spain will get a veto because of Gibraltar lol" - seems reasonable huh? We don't have open borders between Gibraltar and Spain already. In practise it doesn't have to change much of anything at all, it's being used as some bullshit leverage.
>>
>>73157809
Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. The single market is NOT a trade deal you fucking mouthbreather. Technically, we could lose our trade deals that the EU is responsible for, but we will find a workaround for that (transposing them into our law) I imagine
>>
>>73157886
Well then, i don't care. It just shows your running out of bargaining chips already when you have to threaten war even if it's just a media trick. EU's got you by the balls and you'll be the 51st state in no time.

Pretty comfy tbqh

>The European Single Market. The Single Market refers to the EU as one territory without any internal borders or other regulatory obstacles to the free movement of goods and services. A functioning Single Market stimulates competition and trade, improves efficiency, raises quality, and helps cut prices.

>The European Single Market, Internal Market or Common Market is a single market that seeks to guarantee the free movement of goods, capital, services, and people

It's a trade deal you fucking imbecile.

If you're out of the single market you're out of a guaranteed trade arrangement with Europe.

>But we can still trade with Europe outside the single market
BEST case scenario still costs the UK billions or tens of billions annually in tariffs.

What the British tabloids vomit is bullshit and I hope most Brits know it. Even if there weren't 150k Spaniards in Britain, even if there weren't 1m Britons in Spain, even if thousands of Spaniards didn't work in Gibraltar and most Gibraltarians didn't own a home in Spain, we are still NATO allies. Moreover, we are involved balls deep in each other's economy. Our flag carriers are the same bloody airline ffs.
