I dunno but he canceled canada's order of the F-35s for some reason even though they helped build it
>>73060304
Read in a blog that Canada would be considering more F-18's.
>>73060411
They should have gone with F-35 imo
>>73060638
Too expensive no?
It makes sense for countries like US, Japan and Israel to have it. But i think for peaceful cunts like Canada is a bit overkill and they probsbly won't even use it at full capacity.
>>73061346
Best one, other cunts won't even detect it.

The Conservative government wanted to replace the CF-18s with F-35s, but after the Liberal Party won the election a couple of years ago we aren't buying them anymore. The Liberals want to replace it with a lower-cost alternative. Canada is going to buy some Super Hornets as a temporary fix since the CF-18s are getting old as fuck, but it's just the Liberals being retarded.
The government is really fucked when it comes to procurement, so what will end up happening is that we will have some shitty plane that will be outdated soon anyway and the government will find a way to make it cost as much as possible. It's just so fucking stupid that Canada pays hundreds of millions of dollars into the F-35 program only to not do anything with it.

FTFY.
I like the A400M, but didn't it had some problems? Even Germany had to return some of them for problems on the transmission or something.
>>73068779
I asked the pilot and they didn't have problems with the plane although that specific plane was fitted with engines to carry only 25 tons. Afterwards they fly back to Spain to join the other 3 planes being fitted with 37 ton engines.
They have been practicing flying the plane with EC725 inside it without issues.
That aside Russians gave me the most kek
>everyone puts metal gates around their planes and there is always someone to look after it and take pictures with visitors
>Russians didn't even put gates nor guards and just let everyones use their il-76 as their umbrella.
>the crews came back in the afternoon only to load shopping bags on their plane.
>every ground crew wears safety vests and proper uniform despite the heat
>Russian acrobatic team crews just wore shorts and shirts while squatting under our Su-30
>>73069215
kek, we have the "open gates" here which is the Air Force let civilians get into the base. Also some air shows etc...
We'll have the LAAD 2017 next week and there will be some aircraft there. But only military personell and media can get into the event.
>>73059250
Jewing HARD
>>73069401
Some of the ones attending are American P-8,they are not gonna let random people enter or get too close to a top of the line anti sub plane.
LIMA is an international aerospace and maritime exhibition for government and corporates to conduct business, only the weekend is open to public.
This year is also the first time I have seen an Embraer booth.
>>73069716
Also kek at France screaming 'someone pls buy Rafale'.
They even plastered ads everywhere.
>>73069716
>>73069787
Yeah i read about this LIMA. Honestly first time i saw i thought it was in Peru lol.
Sadly i wouldn't be able to go to LAAD since it's exclusive event. Lots of cool stuff will be exposed there.

>>73072155
We also went for those, but they're boondoggles not suited for our needs, so largely a waste compared to the options at the time.
Probably only because of muh-murican relations we ended up on them instead of the JAS or Typhoon.
Previously F16s, with some Bell helicopters and Orion surveillance planes.
I miss our old Mirage planes
>>73059250
We have no Air Force, all planes were sold and cut into scrap metal 25 years ago.

Jokes on France, Malaysia is going to put off buying a new MRCA for as long as possible.
The lobbying must be pretty intense behind the scenes. Those RAF Typhoons stopped by on their way to Japan last year, presumably for more than a social call.
>>73059250
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tojN7cEfja4
>>73074528
Everyone is aware of that but the insane operating cost puts off the air force. What they really want is the Super Hornets but its impossible since we are in team China which was cemented even further when the PM signed contract for 4 chinese Littoral Mission Ship which will go up to 18 in the future.
RAF Typhoon comes every year for five powers exercise and the Butterworth AFB is their base over here.
Too late to turn back now, team chink here we go just like protectorate days back in the Ming dynasty.
>>73072155
buy rafales then
>>73075015
Ah, I didn't know the Typhoon visit was a regular thing. I saw that the visit to Japan was unique, and thought that the whole excursion was unusual.
I thought the F/A-18E was originally in the MRCA competition? I wouldn't see why China would have a say in it since Malaysia has had diverse defence suppliers for a long time, and isn't competing itself in the competition. I suppose the F/A-18E would also make some sense in that Australia operates them, and Australia is also part of the FPDA (and is flying freedom of navigation missions).
>>73059250
Need an upgrade desu
>>73078231
It was originally but Boeing withdrew since they are ending Super Hornet production and we are not looking to buy tons of them and besides some stuff are not sold to non American allies especially one who has massive trade links to China.
We have been operating F-18D for 2 decades now and the air force likes them which is why it became the first plane to bomb someone in anger after 3 decades.
Butterworth AFB is also the place where foreign planes are usually housed during exercise such as the biennial Cope Taufan.
Soon to be replaced by Gripens, Super Hornets, F-35, Eurofighter or Rafale but its not decided yet.
>>73059540
That's a lot of metal to kill a tent with 5 children inside.
>>73079885
That seems odd to me, the Americans will sell updated F-16Cs to anyone, I thought that the only reason why the F/A-18E hadn't really been exported widely was the cost and operating cost compared to a F-16C, plus all the redundant extra carrier ops weight.
Ah well, as much as I would like to see Malaysia get a nice set of Typhoons, I would rather see Malaysia spending the money on infrastructure outside of the Klang valley. the traffic last time I went was terrible.
Gripen and ALCA
>>73081028
Air force requirement is twin engines since the other half of Malaysia is 1000+Km away without any stops in between.
Priority is ships right now since with average age of 40 years they can barely catch up to intruders as well as the need for more patrol crafts.
The only issue with military spending is mostly opposition politicians using half truths and ignorance of the population to create a scandal and rally voters. We use Soviet style 5 year plans and any purchase was determined based on needs much earlier without interfering with development funds. In fact political squabbles wasted much more funds than our small military.
Besides there has been lots of improvement over the years such as electrified double tracked railways, increased bus public transport, 100MBps internet, planned Borneo highway, new and more durable asphalt and 40km+ water tunnel under a mountain range to fix Klang Valley water woes. Our long term aim to to be the SEA specialist in highway, bridge and tunnel construction.
>>73081170
Shouldn't have picked a flightless bird of all things.
I hope I am not late
>>73060770
>Too expensive no?
Irrelevant. Being aprt of the program would have ensured us contracts for manufacturing parts that would have provided billions of dollars to our aerospace industry as well as justifying upgrading most of the major facilities to modern standards.
It was a long term massive benefit to our entire aerospace industry but nope, retard reddit libs look at the price tag and cry that money could better be spent on more refugees.
Now we're going to buy brand new 25 year old planes instead, that are going to be unable to interface with about 70% of the systems on our allies planes, rendering us useless in any sort of international mission.
Oh man that Indian guy has started to sperge out of control
>>73083555
u haven't even seen the real shit...
>>73059250
>>73083937
These aren't even modern aircraft.
Wew muh thread still alive :3
>>73083428
I see. Our cunt did the same but these are brand new and it will benefit our airspace industry on long term.
>>73084017
ur soo wrong ....thats the Light Combat Helicopter ----which has been R&D in india---its like the most modern attack chopper
>>73084227
The worst part is, this will all end up being worse in the end. The exact same shit happened 20 years ago when we bought new helicopters.
We'll drop out of the F-35 program, spend billions on buying temporary Super Hornets to fill the gap, then we will spend 10 years looking for a better plane and then we will just realise "Well fuck, guess the F-35 was the right choice".
Then we'll buy the F-35s at twice the price that we could have had them for and no longer have any contracts to manufacture, losing every benefit.
>>73084254
Not talking about the chopper, holmes.
>>73084254
Looks more outdated today than a lates 60s Soviet helicopter.
>>73083937
These threads never have enough helicopters. Here's the Royal Navy's new Wildcat, a replacement for the Lynx.
>>73084436

>>73085926

>>73062045
The F-18 is perfectly fine, it's just that Lockheed Martin doesn't want to sell them anymore because they have to get rid of the F-35s.

Chink drones
>>73059696
Svenson pls go.
>>73082633
That's good to hear. I was pretty excited to hear that the high speed rail was going all the way North.
Apart from anything else consolidating the air force needs to happen I suppose. As far as I count, Malaysia has four types of combat jets in service, whereas the UK is only running two (the Tornado will withdraw once the F-35B is fully in service). Considering the difference in military budget between the two (>15x bigger), that is a major difference. Most countries in Europe with Malaysia's level of military spending only operate a single type of combat jet.
So yeah, quite easy to see political procurement is by far the biggest problem
