He wasnt innocent because he started a dictatorship and destroyed Macedonia, 75% or more of the Yugoslav gendarmes were stationed in Macedonia, they were brutal and opressive, they forcefully tried to Serbianize the population and started setteling Serbs from Montenegro and Hercegovina, luckily IMRO reprisals made Serbs cautios about coming here and the Bulgarian army expelled them in ww1. The plan was to settle some 40.000 Serbian families thus completely changing the ethnic composition of Macedonia, we would have become a Montenegro, or with any luck a Bosnia, it was ethnic cleansing pure and simple.
>>

Karakachanov needs to be thrown out of the party, if you're saying you're a member. Same thing with Siderov and Ataka. There's no hope for Simeonov's National Front for the Salvation of Boyko though.

100% sure if the United "Patriots" stay the course, they won't be in the next Parliament. Fuck "stability", what happened to ideals? What happened to nationalism? All thrown away for a 'stable country' with an EU-appointed mutra in charge? Fuck that.
>>
>>73033129
If you read the article you would see that it was formed in Belgrade by the Serbian army, and that it was made up of brigands and former vmro activisits. Those members werent ethnic Serbs, they were Bulgarians who had fallen out of favor with imro or bulgarians paid to renounce their bulgarian heritage, the earliest form of Serbianization, just open the pages of the leaders and see for yourself

>The central committee had initially funded individual, and small groups of hajduks (brigands), who were either self-organized or part of the Bulgarian revolutionary organizations in Macedonia

Not to mention how irrelevant it was, the only thing they did was spy on vmro movements and report it to the Turks. There were few to 0 actual Serbs in Macedonia at the time.

And also cities Srbica, and Srbinovo

Also the extinct tribe "Brsjaks" were alleged to be Serbs, from which most Serb-macedonian leaders Micko Krstic, Gligor Sokolovic, Jovan Babunski, etc are supposedly from.

They were pro serbs thats for sure, but things are very shady, for example Pulevski, a Mijak, was at one time a proud Bulgarian patriot who regreted the failure of Macedonian unification with Bulgaria, a Serbian patriot and the father of Macedonian nationalism. Apparently a lot of them were albanized and islamized, some were Bulgarian and others Serbian, the Serbians explain this by saying that Serbs from Albania and Kosovo settled there to avoid islamization and albanization, but saying that western Macedonia is Serbian based on this unclear and divided tribe is a gross overstatement.

Not sure about Pulevski, but it's recorded in the 1920s that the Mijaci specifically had traditional songs and customs all referring to the medieval Serbian state and Serbian heroes/figures.

Also they say "mi" (for we) like Serbs, not "Nie" like bulgarians.

And their traditional hat is a cylinder black hat, which is the traditional Serb hat existant in Montenegro, Herzegovina and the Serbian areas of Croatia/Bosnia. Called the "Zavratka" and the black represents mourning for the Kosovo battle.

>By what criteria?

By their self identification as Bulgarians and being members of imro before joining the armed Serbian propaganda.

As foe the mijaks that is entirely possible, they have strong cultural and historic ties to Serbs, but omce again, not all of them identified as Serb, some identified as Bulgarian, and the Mijaks are in no way representative of western Macedonia, most western Macedonian towns were overwhelmingly Bulgarian, the Mijaks are an interesting and unique anomaly within Macedonia, basing Macedonian Serbdom on a small tribe in Galicnik is nonesense, considering Ohrid, a town very close to Galicnik, was and is to this day a bastion of Bulgarianism in Macedonia, Skopje, which is close to Serbia and a capital of Dusan voted 91% in favor of joining the Bulgarian church, even Kumanovo was pro Bulgarian, with the surrounding villages being pro Serb. And for national costumes, in that case Sokolovic was an Albanian, since those style of pants were called Arnaut pants.

>that is entirely possible, they have strong cultural and historic ties to Serbs, but omce again, not all of them identified as Serb, some identified as Bulgarian, and the Mijaks are in no way representative of western Macedonia, most western Macedon

That just reflects the strong bulgarian propaganda present in Macedonia.

"He began attending primary school at the age of 10. It was here that his teacher Bulgarianized his name into "Ivan Stojkov". Displeased, Babunski's father took his son to the Serbian consulate in Skopje and requested that his son be transferred to a primary school in Belgrade.[3]"

>since those style of pants were called Arnaut pants.

The pants are associated with the Vlachs, who were one of the key elements in Albanian ethnogenesis.

There are plenty of medieval Serbian monasteries and churches in Macedonia. (Markov Manastir, Crkva "Sv. Velikomačenik Georgij")

And Srbin was a common first name amongst Macedonians. And many Macedonians still celebrate the Serbian Slava custom

OK balkan flag power rankings
I exclude my own because bias

>cyprus
not really balkan but you people consider greek islanders balkans so they are.
The only flag worldwide that made map-on-flag work, minimalistic and aesthetic combination
>montenegro
byzantine eagle done right, also enjoy the border color
>albania
byzantine eagle on the more abstract and militaristic side
>macedonia
reminds me of the japanese imperial navy flag, I like the sun symbolism (even with the dispute)
>moldova
the eagle is nice (I kinda cringe though at every non roman country featuring eagles everywhere to display status and power while ex roman provinces with millenia of history under the eagle don't even care)
>serbia/slovenia/croatia
so begin the meh tricolor flags, these are the best ones and their differences are minimal, like their socioculturolinguistic makeup
>turkey
the history of the crescent goes back to the greek deity of magic, that had a cult in the city of byzantium.
Enjoy the history of the symbol and the symmetry, although it's ruined by the major islamic connotations and the uncivilized history of what it stands
>bulgaria/hungary
another random tricolor, not much to be said, green is not a good major color for a flag because islam (apparently the imaginary prophet pbuh loved it)
The hungarian one is better because the green color is darker, but not by much
>romania
can't stop thinking of a pissed french flag or mali. just why

Im done arguing with you, kys you muh heritage diasporafag. You are ignoring Macedonian wilful and enthusiastic support for the FORMATION of a Bulgarian church in Macedonia, Bulgarian unification and liberation, Macedonians joining the Bulgarian army in ww1 EN MASSE as volunteers despite being under Serbian rule, greeting the army as liberators in both world wars, having a pro bulgarian organizatiom operating on a huge scale as a state within a state, as a basis for macedonian nationalism, and focusing on former Bulgarian imro members and a shitstain organization that did absolutely nothing, and a minority from a village in bumfuck nowhere and have the audacity to talk about bulgarian propaganda. true, and identity is a complex matter in general. "ultimate" origins, language etc. aren't the final word either way

it's true that the Slavic-speaking inhabitants seem to have adopted a Bulgarian identity more easily and more expansively than a Serbian one in general when it came to it but it's also true that it's more complex than that

OmG yes, Communism sucks. But not that. I was reading that people that are under someone's else reign or use a lot of trade tend to use a Creole language. I for myself think Albanian is a Illyro-Thraco-Dacian creole. The messapian language (illyrians) has a lot of common words with Albanian. But not the word "wear" or "mishmash". Thracians though have the word "embada" which is found in Albanian mbath, and Thracian romphaiha is found in Albanian rrufe and rrumpallë. The albanian word vëlla comes from Dacian bla/vla, which might be the source of the word vlah

The one raised in Vlore was drawn by some Albanian in Bulgaria.

The one I showed was designed in Vienna, from the instructions of an Albanian from the highlands.

you trolling, nigga? but yeah that makes sense, a lot of linguists have thought that Albanian is a Dacian-related language that moved to Albania during Roman times and acquired an Illyrian substratum if it isn't Illyrian. I think there's a decent argument to be made for it being Illyrian that acquired some Dacian loanwords and was Latinized intensely and survived in the general area of Komani-Kruja in Central-North Albania too. either way

"embada" (shoes) is also clearly related to "embadon". did Thracian romphaia enter Albanian directly or via Latin? I don't remember what sound changes we'd expect if it were Latin

There's only one old Serbian epic poem "Wedding of Tsar Dusan", where the Serbian hero Milos disguises himself as a "Black Bulgarian" and has to put mud on his skin.

that goes for basically every ancient linguistic category. we're talking just linguistics here after all

imo by far the most convincing explanation is a survival of Illyrian in central-north Albania, somewhere in the region between Ohrid and Shkoder. the ancient Albanoi lived there, the Slavic toponyms are rarer, it's the zone of Albania where Latin > Greek, medieval Albanians re-appear there

c'mon!

From Spain to Dalmatia one Latin language was spoken and no other language. Those native populations quickly assimilated into Latins/Romans. Not too different from the USA.

The non-Latin speaking populations within the Empire were specifically mentioned and usually subjugated harshly.

in fact the Albanians are first mentioned in a Bulgarian source and soon after in Byzantine sources

if it helps you feel better, I find it quite likely that Albanians (re-)migrated to Kosovo after the Serbs

>Oh,so the Greeks,Georgians, Armenians, and other Caucasian or even Berber languages for that matter?

Yes, Greeks were popular slaves in the Roman Empire, and I'm sure you know what the Romans did to Hannibal (Berber).

Basques were mentioned plenty by Greek/Roman historians.

>>73035862

Yes, from where they migrated to modern Albania. Which explains why their language doesn't have maritime vocabulary.

that's what he's saying, after the 7th century control of the balkans was sketchy, documentation of small populations sparse.
The byzantines were in constant war with migratory tribes from the north, germanic overlords to the west, persians, then arabs to the east and enormous heresies from within.
The balkans were more of a borderland they kept to slow western invasions because of the mountains, like the taurus mountains

There are literally no sources about that. They were clearly an established tribe in current Bulgaria. Why the fuck would they move so far west? Lmfao. Seems like you're just some autist who spews random bullshit just for the sake of arguing when in fact you don't know shit.

Yes but that doesn't explain how the albanians remained a consolidated ethnic group and were not pagans. And how they were not mentioned by any Greek/Roman historians for 1000 years
>>
>>73035887
as I said, the Byzantines barely controlled the inner parts of that area for that period. why would they mention a relatively small population that didn't bother the empire in any way? in the 11th century, they're mentioned

the Albanians must have been somewhere *in* the Balkans during that time anyway. the Bessoi aren't mentioned again after the 6th century or so either after all

they were Christians but at the earliest they seem to have had ties with Latin, not Byzantine rite. so from somewhere in Bar or thereabouts

The first mentions of Albanians in Albania coincide with the Bulgarian Empire conquering the Albanian coast in the 10th century. Bulgarians must have settled them out as border guards.

Also the geographic nucleus of the albanians is considered to be the Shkumbin river, which just so happens to be located right in the middle of the area that Bulgaria conquered.

You can't just pull shit out of your ass m8. The Bessi were probably assimilated by the slavs and later Bulgarians.

Their capital was (and still is) in Bulgaria. Their territory was entirely in Bulgaria.

Bessi became Bulgarians, just like the slavic smolyani and the turkic bulgars became Bulgarians. We didn't resettle anyone to Albania.

Show me when the "Illyrians" were baptised?

>>73036116

What you're saying is downright impossible.

>why would they mention a relatively small population that didn't bother the empire in any way?

Because they are in their empire, the proto-albanians weren't 5 dudes in a cave.

The Bessoi complete the continuity though. They are recorded to be baptised in 350ad, and then their language is mentioned in the 600s.

The Rhodope mountains is on the border of the Jirecek line, they had strong Latin influence.

Also Albanian clusters with Bulgarian and Macedonian in the Balkan Sprachbund.

it makes little sense for them to be Bessoi and that's why only a couple of people have picked up on that theory. it adds nothing more and it detracts a lot

Albanian has potential ties to Dacian and Illyrian in various way much more than with Thracian sensu stricto

and are you really asking me during which period Roman territory was Christianized? it's likely that pagan populations survived until relatively late in some areas but the ancestors of the Albanians needn't have been necessarily that remote and hidden just because the historical Albanians were at first

Albanians were mentioned by the Bulgarians immediately after this hypothetical event. Coincidence?

>Also, why would Bulgarians send not assimilated troops in border/coastline regions

The Bulgarian Empire was a very multiethnic empire - the upper class were Turkic Bulgars, the masses were Slavic tribes and others.

The Bulgarian Empire didn't have a unified religion or language until 893.
