Lads, I know many of you hate the BBC for various reasons, but in the past I've always defended it as a good source of relatively unbiased, well-researched news. I still believe this to an extent, but I just can't ignore their agenda-pushing on "soft" articles anymore. Every single day there are stories about how great women are, how African and India are the future, and how normie degeneracy is inherently good.

At this rate the only international news source I have any real faith in is Reuters. Where do you lads get your news?
>>
>>72995009
TheJournal.ie, CNN and the guardian
>>
>>72995009
>Every single day there are stories about how great women are, how African and India are the future, and how normie degeneracy is inherently good.

It sounds like you're frustrated they aren't confirming your bias. Do you have any examples of problem articles?

Here and politics.ie, just from whatever articles get posted in those places generally. I don't really trust any media source as they all have a bias to some degree. It's best to just use as many as you can and form your own views on the topic from those sources.

CNN is shite, and the Journal is decent but still has an amateurish vibe to it. Admittedly the Guardian is generally good for most "hard" news, but it exceptionally left wing and occasionally anti-Irish.

>>72995080
>It sounds like you're frustrated they aren't confirming your bias
I initially thought so too - it's important to be careful in this regard when consuming any media, otherwise you will just end up in an echo chamber. But when you start seeing pro-Feminism, pro-Africa, pro-India articles on an almost daily basis, it becomes hard to ignore.

Today didn't have any particularly bad examples admittedly, but this one is just another in a long line of "women are just as good as men in every way" articles:

>>72995178
>The BBC's "hard" news is bearable.
I agree - I won't be dropping it as a news source. But it's soft articles are revealing that there may be an agenda behind the scenes, like with the Guardian.
>>
>>72995391
>archiving BBC articles
For what purpose?
>>
The Diplomat and Foreing Policy are the best ones in my opinion. They bring up to light a lot of topics mainstream media doesn't really care about, their coverage is very extensive, howbeit limited to the topics they work with (The Diplomat, for example, works only with Asia-Pacific).
The ideal is to either get your news from a vast array from different sources and, even better, the actual source of the news itself. Start reading government reports, police reports, etc., rather than the reports on the reports. If college dropouts can so should you.
>>
>>72995391
>But it's soft articles are revealing that there may be an agenda behind the scenes, like with the Guardian.
The Guardian is open, and dare I say it, somewhat sincere in its leftism, which usually means it's funny when it's not just "you're wrong but okay whatever". The BBC's leftism is insidious ("really makes you think" type shit) and still has that smug high-bourgeoisie/old establishment triumphalism that the guardian doesn't so much have.
The two "Irish" papers are far worse, the Times especially.

Frogweeb please help.
I have gigabytes of pictures of boats in my HD and so was thinking of actually starting playing the game.
I wanted to ask if you can build a fleet/deck/team/unit/whatever you call it in-game with 3 carriers, 5 battleships, 2 heavy cruisers and 3 destroyers. This fleet would basically be a combination of my favorite boats. Can such a thing be done? What is the closest I can get to it?

RTÉ News is actually a really good news outlet all things considered. Of all the outlets I get news from, they are generally among the least biased. They can sometimes be lacking in detail though, especially on international events. The RTÉ News website and the Journal.ie are my two main sources of Irish news, and I watch the Six One most evenings.

Excellent post. You articulated a feeling that I didn't know how to put into words.

>still has that smug high-bourgeoisie/old establishment triumphalism that the guardian doesn't so much have.
I think the Guardian does still have a fair bit of that though, but it's moreso a "new establishment" variant of it as leftism has swept the Western world in recent years.

The Times is weird. Most them time it seems to lean heavily left, but the seem to be pretty laissez-faire about what they will allow to be published in their online opinion pieces. Remember that time they let that Alt-Right guy publish the glossary of Alt-Right terms and the internet went mental. >an "operational need" existed for highly-trained female soldiers who could gather intelligence and interact with women and children during deployments in conservative societies.
I think that's a meme to justify female soldiers. I don't see a situation where a Muslim patriarch who wouldn't already be on the side of the degenerate westerners would allow his wife to go to them and tell them where the taliban are hiding. And even if the wives of Afghan males were more cooperative than their husbands, using women soldiers to cajole information from Muslim women in order to kill Muslim men undermines trust and cooperation between the sexes and gravely insults the honour of the countries they would deploy them in (as it does to what little remains in those countries which raised the female soldiers).

Yes, it's a pillow. A pillow that is like a body. A body pillow. Have you ever gone to bed and just hugged a pillow, tight against your chest? Now, imagine that pillow is the size of a PERSON, and when you look at it, what do you see? You see a PERSON (that person is an anime girl), AND the quality is much better than that of a normal pillow. After some time in captivity and prolonged isolation, it becomes even MORE than that, you'll start loving the daki, as though it was a real anime girl. And you'll feel love back too, as for the daki will be next to you, always. Dakis won't complain of you being too clingy, they won't leave you, they don't cost a penny. Basically the only thing that can possibly surpass a daki is a very well written VN or other kind of game, possibly VR as a whole in the future.

That's not true at all, their inflation is reaching critical levels and is predicted to surge for food prices when they leave the EU.
Something like 40% of the tech sector and even more of the financial sector have admitted to be considering a departure within the next 5 years.
The economy is going to collapse upon itself, the signs are very bad. No economist ever advised Brexit as a sensible path for prosperity. It was voted in with everyone knowing their economy would suffer as a result.

>>
>>73000180
With the EU they will have a worse trade deal. They might get some better deals with everyone else as they can negotiate on their own without 27 other countries who all have separate demands for something.
>>
>>73000294
Bigger trading bloc = Better trade negotiations with partners outside the bloc.

The sheer economic clout of the EU gives it a far better position in any trade negotiations than the UK will have on its own.

53% of their imports and 46% of their exports are with EU countries. If they stick it'll be under worse conditions, if they switch it'll take years to transition and come with a massive short term hit. That's even presuming those external market supply and demands exist.
>>
>>73000395
To an extent, but because every country in the EU has different demands negotiations for most trade deals take a very long time. The UK on its own won't be as big of a pull but they'll be able to just contend with their demands, and negotiate deals far quicker than the EU as a block do with other countries, they may or may not get better deals. Nobody really knows what will happen, should be fun though.

I was arguing with retards on /v/ about this.
They were saying it would be a FOTS-style "expandalone" for Warhammer, and I said that it was not correct to call it "the next Total War" because it would not actually be another game replacing the old one if it was just an expansion, even one that could be played without the other.

If it is replacing the old one, why would they not add it to the current one, since it's the same setting? Unless they redid the technology to such an extent that the new work isn't compatible? In which case it's actually Warhammer being used as a guinea pig for the history game.
Otherwise it seems like an excessively grandiose description for an expansion pack and an excuse to milk full price out of what would be 30 euro once upon a time.

>>73004433
>I sure hope that I didn't buy Warhammer 1 for nothing
Well, I think they should call it Warhammer Part 1, 2, 3, not numbering them like they're sequels if they're going to be compatible with each other. The board game armies can all fight against each other AFAIK, I imagine they'll keep it the same way in the computer game.

Surprised to hear someone bought FOTS by itself. Was that when it first released? I bought the bundle (back when it was cheaper than it is now) when it was on sale. The main campaign does more to flesh out the differences between the factions and add variety, but the setting of FOTS is a very interesting one, I played it as often as I played the main game, but I never touched the prequel setting.

Final question in this interrogation: what are your thoughts on Dawn of War 3, if any?

Ah, I remember disk-based gaming.
When I got my first PC capable of playing games made after ~2006, I went around town looking for physical disks, and they were very perplexed by the request. I was specifically looking for Shogun 2 actually, since I'd had a lot of fun with Medieval 2 and Rome.

Dawn of War 1 was a Starcraft clone, even though Starcraft's lore borrows very heavily from 40k's setting, but Dawn of War 2/Retribution is more like a Company of Heroes clone (made by the same company), and the campaign is barely an RTS in the traditional sense, it's more like a story-driven RPG (the expansion even has a choice system and a karma meter). I'd recommend the second one when it's on sale primarily for the campaign, but the gameplay is fun and not so fast-paced and "rush rush build build" as Starcraft-style RTS games so you might enjoy online or the co-op mode (I wasn't a huge fan but it has die-hard supporters).

For me a game is only "worth" full price if it's new, since in my view you're not paying extra for what's in the game, you're only paying for the privilege of getting it without having to wait for it to age and go on sale.
Given that Dawn of War 2 is 8 years old, I'd say it's definitely not worth the full price. The DLC adds 15 euro to the price when not on sale, and all of it is horribly overpiced multiplayer stuff, of which only 2 add any gameplay benefits.

Dawn of War 3 will be out the 27th of April anyway, so 2 will be on sale then, almost certainly at 75% (meaning it'll be 10-20 euro for the whole collection - a fair price). They have had play for free weekends in the past as well, so try the campaign if they have that this time as well.

Steam also has a function where it sends you an email when an item on your wishlist goes on sale, you should consider setting that up if you never catch sales when you want them. Steam is quite regular and generous with their sales, I get a notification in my inbox at least once a week for games I put on my list yonks ago, but thanks in large part to Steam Sales, I don't buy them because I have so large a backlog of games.
I am waiting for EA's Origin to put Mass Effect 3 on sale though, the bastards are stingy and their proprietary system sucks, and though the subscription-based system they have would get you access to a lot of content with savings perhaps as impressive as Steam's, I prefer to own my games and EA's shoddy policies have not inspired enough trust in me to pay them for anything less than permanent ownership of a game.

She's the cute average girl next door you had growing up, but never had the balls to ask out. Also sharing certain hobbies and liking some songs/artists adds to it.

>literally just an expansion of Warhammer 1, not even with an interruption of another Total War game

>If you own both this game and its predecessor, a free update coming "shortly" after launch will provide Warhammer II with a combined campaign map that consists of the regions from both games. This will let you play through campaigns with any playable race you own.

I'm not even mad, I support them fully fleshing out the potential in their games and pleasing fans, I'm just angry at the word crimes they have committed by building up the hype by saying it's "the next Total War" when it's more of the same/

Wrong. Why do you do this? Why do you constantly burn every olive branch you're handed? He's foreign (like you) but this is /int/ and he integrates with the thread's tone and style better than you do.

And this "Korean" (I refuse to believe it's someone on the other side of the world who does this to us) doesn't even merit the title of avatarfag. He would be an avatarfag if he did what Frogweeb did with the anime girl "Bismarck", that is to say, posted relevant content just with a certain type of image consistently attached. He doesn't even do that. Literally every post by his in this thread has been about the slag, nothing else.

Because he doesn't just want to post here, he wants to be "the" poster. He wishes he was king of /éire/ and everyone admired his posts for his godly opinions. He wants to be regarded as the greatest and most Irish poster there is. He can't stand it when someone seemingly less Irish than him gets more attention and is treated better than him. He hates Luxlad because he has nothing to do with Ireland outside of befriending a Limerickian and yet is treated very well. I remember my old twitter account I used for /sp/ yesterday and was looking through some of the outlaw follows I had, all of them are inactive now.
/sp/ ran its course for me I think, I enjoyed the chaos but there were a lot of really nasty individuals there like Misha and most of the brits.

Pretty accurate. /éire/ was definitely fully revived by the time I returned in October; the 2 week period around Halloween saw multiple threads every day and threads lasting right through the night. Things died down a bit again in November, but were revived again during Christmas. We've more or less riding that resurgence ever since.

No he's relatively new, we just talk about different posters so often he's picked up on it.
We need an /éire/ Historia we can consult for matters regarding personalities, we spend every second thread on them.

It depends what you consider old /éire/. I used to post in /éire/ occasionally before I moved to France last summer, but I was never really a regular. I only started posting consistently a few months after I moved to France.

No, last Summer was when I moved to France. I had been posting off and on in /éire/ long before that. But I'm talking about on a level where I'd look into a thread, maybe reply to one post, and then leave again. October 2016 was the first time I found /éire/ to be properly engaging, which encouraged me to stay.

That used to be Trinity's job

>Do tell. This sounds interesting.

There was a guy called Misha who routinely targeted some of the best known trips and doxxed them, then turned what he found into memes. If you google "bog sim sargon" you'll find an example of that.
There were others who cracked tripcodes of the trips and distributed them and people who then spent months pretending to be those trips to ruin their reputation.
There was some weird camera chatrooms that went on at night as well that seemed to routinely feature an English guy called Ernie getting high and wanking into the camera. And then there was Manchester, who was discovered to proxy samefag relentlessly to pretend to be anons talking about herself, just for attention I guess.
There was some stalker as well who chronicled every action of a villa fan and showed his printouts and timetables of his routine, I think he published a hardback report of his most memorable posts at some stage, it was very strange.
It was a complete basket case of a community, I'd never seen anything like it.

God have mercy on us all.

Was it actual personal information of the poor tripfag or was it just post-based stuff? I hope it was the latter. It makes for a crazier stalker but a safer tripfag.

I actually find her pretty unsettling now because I've had some very minimal interaction with her in real life before, and only realised about a month ago that she was the same person who was posted on /éire/ for years. I don't want to interact with her again because I won't be able to take her seriously and just think about her being posted here.
