The situation of the Philippines is a paradox. It's one of the fastest growing economies in SEA, managing 6%+ for more than half a decade, the third largest economy of the region in terms of GDP PPP, a high literacy rate, yet it ranks the second highest in terms of poverty?

How can a country even function with over 1/4 of its entire population living in poverty? The poverty rate hasn't changed at all in decades despite the economic growth. Vietnam managed to solve its poverty problem even with lower GDP per capita and PPP, in less time than the Philippines.

It's baffling how Filipinos just accept their fate. The problems in the Philippines can easily be solved and it’s strange hearing Filipinos supporting the policies that exacerbates their poverty. No, 60/40 is an ineffective policy that only benefits the Elite, none of the common Filipinos will ever benefit from it.

Having one of the highest corporate taxes, numerous business regulations, denying foreign ownership and huge energy expenses are problems, not something Filipinos should be proud of. This is all common sense, yet I see Filipinos defending all of it.

Finally, abstinence, it just doesn’t work. Support contraception. The 3.1 fertility rate is the primary cause for Filipino poverty: families cannot raise their children properly, which leads to crime, lack of education, economic opportunities, and growing sustainable population.

I see so much potential for the Philippines, it can be on par with Malaysia, yet at this rate even Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar will surpassed the Filipinos, because at least they know ignoring their issues will not suffice, and are willing to acknowledge and address their problems.

Are you jesting? The Philippines suffers from political corruption, terrorism, crime, unsustainable population growth, and a stagnating quality of life, because of their high poverty rate.

The fact that one part of the government is attempting to impeach or discredit the opposition, with accusations from both sides claiming the other side is illegitimate and corrupt because of said problems? Or the fact that the Muslim-majority regions demands autonomous control of their territory, with poverty being the primary motive for their independence, which greatly reduces the function of the Archipelagic State overall? Or how about the simple fact that these problems usher in organizations that desire civil war, as is the case with the Communists, the Muslims, and other political terrorist groups, all of whom have the same sole purpose of bringing down the Philippines State as it exists at this moment?

You have to be blind not to see where the political instability of the Philippines is heading towards its natural conclusion. Either the government collapses due to civil unrest, or because some Filipino politician attempts another Martial Law. Duterte being elected president, despite his disregard for Rule of Law and his intention to kill or imprison all drug users, just demonstrates how politically unstable the Philippines is.
>>
Selamat pagi!
>>
>>72939991
>Or the fact that the Muslim-majority regions demands autonomous control of their territory, with poverty being the primary motive for their independence
You could say that for basically any problem any country has had with separatism, but it doesn't make the philippines cease to function as a state.
>which greatly reduces the function of the Archipelagic State overall
As long as all is well in Luzon, all is well in the archipelago.
As for the various insurgents currently existing within the philippines, the huks were more powerful than todays lot combined. they're safely ignorable.
>Either the government collapses due to civil unrest
of which there is very little
>or because some Filipino politician attempts another Martial Law
not even duterte himself is entertaining such
the most that could be expected is a constitutional amendment that vests more powers into the executive branch of government, but that does not seem likely.

Why would you want more Filipinos in this world? The Philippines cannot even feed the large population they already have, let alone educate, shelter, and provide the basic services required to nurture its people, ensuring they become productive members of their society.

You know what happens when the educated Filipinos realize how horrible the condition of the Philippines really is? They leave. Migrant to developed countries like ours, which we are unable to handle in such massive quantities. When the Filipino diaspora represents 1/10 of the entire Philippine population, there's a problem with their country.

Losing territory and political control of the islands to a bunch of Muslims that support Sharia Law is an indication of how ineffective the Philippine government really is at addressing the concerns of its people. The Philippines is divided and there are islands within country that are outside the jurisdiction that all other islands have to follow. How is this not symptom of government instability? This just further motivates other regions of the Philippines to demand autonomy as well. It will never end.

Are you claiming there is very little to no civil unrest within the country? The Philippines has the Catholic Church, a large portion of the Philippine government, and a section of the Filipino people opposing Duterte for his War Against Drugs. The Philippine government neglecting due process, rule of law, and conducting warrantless searches are problems that are causing Filipinos unrest. Filipinos from Facebook and Reddit won't shut up about it.

For our territories in the west Phil sea its our EEZ, territory and potential resources that will be lost. They can also in force trade ship taxing since china can control it now fully, maybe in time after they finish militarizing it.
For the Muslim areas resources and territory as well Zamboanga is a major trade hub shipwise
Also Mindanao has natural resources.
All of this is valuable and would matter if we actually care about being a country

Now if we are going for that scenario that we should be Independent and separated
Then the China problem is only a Luzon/Palawan problem they're fucked.
While if we lost Mindanao to muslim rebels Christians there would probably be forced out and since they are anti america they will turn to china for development like Malaysia.

Then what do you think of Laotian Civil War?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laotian_Civil_War

I heard Communist Laos denied the Laotian Civil War existed, prefering to refer it as 30-year struggle (1945-1975) instead. As for the existence of the Laotian War goes:
"The existence of the conflict in Laos was sometimes reported in the U.S., and described in press reports as the CIA's "Secret War in Laos" because details were largely unavailable due to official government denials that the war existed. The denials were seen as necessary considering that the North Vietnamese government and the U.S. had both signed agreements specifying the neutrality of Laos. U.S. involvement was considered necessary because North Vietnam had effectively conquered a large part of the country and was equally obfuscating its role in Laos. Despite these denials, however, the Civil War was actually the largest U.S. covert operation prior to the Soviet–Afghan War, with areas of Laos controlled by North Vietnam subjected to years of intense US aerial bombardment, representing the heaviest bombing campaign in history. Overshadowing it all was the struggle of the Cold War, with the United States' policy of the containment of communism and the policies of the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union of spreading communism via subversion and insurgency."

That map on the right seems inaccurate: Duterte's strength was in Urban Luzon and Mindanao, Binay and Poe split the rest of Luzon while Roxas did well in the Visayas.

You know Mami Kawada Lover anon, if you really like Mami Kawada so much, I suggest that you save up so that you can date her some day. A firsthand experience of Mami Kawada and Kawada lovers culture would go a long way in helping develop your understanding of the person.

I would also suggest you seek Kawada-lovers penpals and the like, they could give you first-hand information that would be hard to get from online sources.

>>
>>72952346
Funny thing is that they seem to conflate "Bisaya" with "Cebuano" when they're not exactly the same thing. Bisaya and Cebuano are more or less synonymous when referring to the ethno-linguistic group; they're different from the Warays, the Hiligaynon, etc. I get that non-Muslim Mindanao is predominantly settled by Cebuano immigrants, but they didn't have to put things so much out of context.
>>
>>72952365
Is that you anon?
>>

Seems my post was contradictory, what I meant to say was: as an ethnolinguistic group, "Bisaya" and "Cebuano" are synonymous, but as a geographic description, they're not the same, or you could say "Visayan" and "Cebuano" are not synonyms.

There's nothing anyone can do about it really. Each islands has it's own sub-rules and culture. Natives tend to stick to their own place whilst no personal attachment to the capital. Even if Manila sinks into the ocean, most of us wouldn't care. The bad ones leave their hometown and start a new life in the capital.

I feel so sorry for you. But hey, this is a democratic country, believe what you want to believe, though that won't change the truth that Miriam would had a much better chance compared to Poe and Roxas combined against Duterte. I wouldn't include Binay because he was just there for the comic relief of the election.

Even if she wasn't sick, she didn't really have a chance. Only the youth were really into her, older voters were allergic to her, and even then the youth wasn't solidly into her; if anything, Duterte did well among younger voters as well. Besides, she already ran twice and lost both times, and Filipino voters don't really like candidates who lost previously; that's also a reason as to why Roxas wasn't (and isn't) popular.

Roxas isn't popular because he is your typical old rich, old elite establishment guy. He is the most qualified out of the bunch, is squeaky clean, is one of the more objectively accomplished senators but bobotantes here value showmanship and charisma over actual accomplishments and results.

He's a charisma blackhole like Arroyo and his silly photo-ops where he tries hard to be part of the plebs did not help him at all.

That's why Cuckyetano and Macuck Jr. will never win just like Binay, Villar, Pichay, De Venecia and a whole slew of others before them.
>>
>>72955292
I 100% agree with your observations on Roxas but I beg to disagree that BBM lacks charisma: he's really popular among the youth, if not because of him then maybe because of his son.

Most native asean have double eyelid. For the Chinese here some have monolid, some have double eyelid. I think epicanthic folds are more prominent with northern Chinese.

Okay, Thanks.
I have another question. The region of India I'm from, no one has any epicanthic folds but I happen to have a slight epicanthic fold (inherited from my mother's side). I want to get an idea lof my ancestry. Do you think I might have some asean genes from my eyes?

What is the bond between Chinese and Indians in Malaysia and Singapore? I don't understand they don't get along each other.
>>
New thread when?
>>
>>72965641
Think of it like this:
Chinese are Jews
Indians are Niggers
Locals are whites
>>
>>72965711
You make it
>>
>>72965834
I see. I feel such situation in Malaysia and Singapore is pretty complicated I suppose. I feel like Malays are superior to Chinese and vice-versa.
