hebrew is the 3000+ old original language of the jews, native to israel
all the important religious stuff like the torah is written in it
it's related to arabic, aramaic, babylonian, etc.
it died out as a spoken language (but was still read and written) by like 500 B.C. but it was revived by the zionists in the late 1800s
it's the most successful language revival in history

yiddish is a medieval german dialect that european jews adopted as their main spoken language and brought with them to eastern europe
it's mostly dead as a spoken language due to jews leaving europe or being killed
