As far as I'm concerned, the Islamic regime has outlived its purpose for Iran (achieving a modicum of self-sufficiency and competence, as well as advancing and developing the country) and is now a liability for Iran.

The best case situation for Iran would be if the mullahs were overthrown 15 years ago, Iran would have retained all the advantages it gained from it, yet would still have a much better political/economic situation today.

Really, corruption is one of the biggest problems in pretty much every /mena/ country. That's one of the reasons why I support free market economy and a smaller government. You can't trust the governments to do anything right, at least private companies do the job right due to competition.

Even here in Canada the government does jack shit. In the city I live in, Montreal, there have been constructions going on at my university for over 7 months now. They were supposed to fix a road and it was supposed to take less than 3 months, it's been 7 and half the road is still closed. I think the provincial government is just using this as an excuse to funnel money into their pockets.
