There's no controversy, just entitlement.

I remember 20 years ago nearly everyone adhered to a minimum standard of dress while flying. It wasn't common to see jeans or tennis shoes on a plane. And my father was a pilot so when I few standby with my family of course I would be wearing dress shoes, slacks, and a tucked-in button up shirt. And from the very beginning I was told that passengers flying standby get to fly cheaper, but they also represent the company. So you need to keep your appearance clean, your behavior respectable and understand if you get bumped off the flight by someone paying ticket price. That's the entire deal and has been that way for decades.

I generally still try to appear this way on planes even today -- I'm not representing the company, but I'm representing myself. It takes a certain level of low-class to show up to a plane where we're all packed in so close and you're showing off your nasty toe-nailes and hairy legs in your sandals and jean shorts.

The women who are complaining are just low-class. Fuck em.

Fun fact: when in a flight, whenever I realize that there is a woman wearing high heels in the sit front of me, I try my best to make her reach my uncovered feet, making her stomping on them without she realizing.
