Each madhab is a school of Islamic jurisprudence formed by a imam.. Hanbali is the oldest madhab of Sunni Islam and it's considered more modern in contrast to Hanbali & Shaifii (because it was formed in Baghdad, which was at that time the capital of the Islamic intellectual world), all Sunni schools agree on basics of islam in prayer fasting hajj etc.. but minor practises may differ. For example, the niqab (face cover) is obligatory in hanbali islam (which is why it's mainly just gulf arabs who fully cover their women), while in hanafi you can expose face. Or in the case of circumcision, shafii sees circumcision as required for both men and women (which is why FGM is so prevelant in egypt and muslim parts of southeast asia) while in hanafi it's just permissible, even for men it's optional but preferred (very few women are circumcised in the levant). It's mainly just how the formers of the schools viewed as being obligatory/preferrable/permissible/disliked/forbidden to very detailed things such as raising finger during prayer that makes differences.
