They suck, it's boring and depressive. I don't hang out in my neighborhood, shit blows. I steer clear of other bad neighborhoods unless I'm visiting family. There are differences but they're mostly the same, so you're not missing much. If you'v been to one shitty neighborhood you've been to all shitty neighborhoods. White,black, brown, all the same.

I'm from the western suburbs of Melbourne, so I suppose I live in the closest thing Australia has to the "hood"
I live near housing comission (houses that the government gives to bogans).
It's not too bad here. You have a bit of riff raff here and there. For example, today a guy got in an armed stand off with police and shot himself after 11 hours of negotiation.

All in all, it's really comfy here and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Really just full of ex IRA men, splinter paramilitary groups like the CIRA that kneecap drug dealers whilst simultaneously dealing huge amounts of drugs under the pretense of being against it. If I was seen drinking in public as a teenager I would of been threatened to have my knees blown off. Full of alcoholism, synthetic marijuana, benzoopiate addiction and depression too of course.
