That depends on whether the the German authorities intervened or not. There's a good chance KC could be finished in it's current form. It may return in another form, or the userbase may spread out to other similar sites.

By the way, is KC even hosted in Germany anymore?

The German authorites intervene a lot in these cases so they probably have.

If there's a demand for the German speaking sections it might return in some form. If it doesn't we'll see some of them come here like when Harach and 2ch.so went down a few years ago we got a load of Russians here, the users of their /int/ are more likely to come here too, even if a replacement for krautchan pops up.
>By the way, is KC even hosted in Germany anymore?
Not sure, if it still is hosted in Germany it's fucked, if it comes back again they might try host it elsewhere to avoid the German authorities.

The IRA were not a Catholic organization. It was filled with atheists and Protestants. Many IRA members were not even Irish.

The attack above was on the financial district and was welcomed by many people in the UK who hated Thatcher. The bomb was set off late at night -during the weekend - to AVOID civilian causalities. There was a couple of unfortunate deaths of people who wandered into the attack. If Jihadists had the technical sophistication of the IRA, we would be talking thousands people dead. Pray that the Jihadist never reach that level. The IRA were a completely professional military operation and could have killed hundreds of thousands if they wanted.

To compare this to what took place the other day, Paris or any other Muslim attack is bullshit. I say this as an Irish person who not a Republican and has no love for the IRA. The IRA bombed the UK to get British Troops out of Northern Ireland. When the British Troops left, the IRA stopped bombing. Jihadist murder to force their religion on the UK and other nations.

Irish people living in the UK were burnt out of their homes during these years by National Front types, suffered terrible discrimination with no Lefties/PC types to stand up for them and THEY did not hold it against all English people.

Memes and the truth/complexity are often two very different things.

Why? Irish language shite?
>>

>>72797845
the DUP made a big fuck-up and wasted a lot of public money. The party leader (who incidentally was responsible for the problem) refused to stand aside for an investigation into her conduct, so Sinn Féin collapsed the government in protest and forced elections, which were held in early March.

SF then did amazingly in those elections and the unionists lost their majority, and the DUP lost their petition of concern (effectively a veto on new laws), SF increased their share of the seats. They said they would not go back "business as usual" and the election results gave them a mandate for this. SF wanted the DUP to agree to implement an Irish Language Act, which they were already bound to do as part of a previous agreement but were refusing to honour.

Anyway there has been no progress, the DUP are just insisting everything goes back to the way it was, their leader gets off without having to stand aside for investigation, no Irish language act etc.

SO Sinn Féin have refused to nominate someone for deputy first minister, preventing a new power-sharing government to be formed. So it's either another election or direct rule from the UK govt. 4D chess because I can't see how SF can benefit from this.

also you might have seen that Martin McGuinness died this week, if that's considered relevant.
>>
>>72798059
They're possibly playing 4D chess by getting direct rule to convince some Unionists that Westminster doesn't give a shit about them, and to try and convince them to favour a reunification. The last election also had a much larger turnout mainly from Nationalists, and they're more likely to turn up now as the numbers of Nationalists and Unionists are almost equal now. Some people who are still sick of the DUP might still vote for Alliance or Greens in the future, particularly the soft Unionists who might not want direct rule. Another election would probably lead to the DUP gaining from Alliance and the UUP to scare Unionists and make them the biggest party.
>>
>>72798335
they have a mandate for that. Nationalists getting bored of the DUP's antics around the Irish language and Irish identity in general is what won SF many votes last time

>>72798059

>the SF surge frightened them
I've a feeling that the threat of a Unionist surge will drive SF into an even larger share of the Nationalist vote. UUP/SDLP proposal failed utterly, moderate Nationalists might get spooked about the DUP boogeyman now that Nesbitt is kill, and vote for SF again.

There's a risk of a low Nationalist turnout of course, effectively cutting SF's leg out from under them, but if that happens they can surely just refuse to go to the table again until they get their concessions.

I don't think Westminster would let it go to a third election cycle.

How do they plan to do that? The best way to start that is by launching the party and officially registering it, the only people who know about it now are people who are interested in politics and a few people on /éire/pol, how else can they get the public to know they exist? You don't get any state funding if you're not registered either, along with other shit like not having the party name on the ballot.
>>
>>72802067
Absolutely nothing wrong with that
>>
>>72802236
You don't get State funding unless you've achieved 2% of the vote, there's no point in squandering resources, especially media attention, if you don't have a strong support base first.

What the National Party should do, and is doing, is recruiting enthusiastic young and middle-aged voters, spreading by word of mouth and ensuring it has some form of groundwork laid BEFORE launching itself as a political party. It's best to maximise public attention when you already have policies and a manifesto, than to rely solely on brand recognition.

That does make sense to solidify the party and make them less likely to fall after a few key personalities leave like what happened with Renua and the Social Democrats, but the pool of potential voters has to be bigger than a few people on /éire/pol to get anywhere. You also eventually have to get word of the party out into the general public who aren't that clued into the party. They have two years until local elections and EU parliament elections, they should have something by then or they're going nowhere.

We're recruiting people who are likely to already be interested in such a party - and there seems to be quite a large support base. I've personally found 4 people to join, one of whom has also recruited another 4-5 people. We'll find a strong base first, including finding potential candidates, and then launch properly.

Every other party seems to be drifting left. We're going to target the voters they're leaving behind. Local elections will be the first obvious target, European would bring publicity. Having 2-3% of the seats in the Dáil initially would be a great showing for the party, but that's anywhere from 2 to 5 years away.

Women and men are very different between each other in terms of personality, most researchers agree they're practically different species when it comes to behaviour and the such, and differences between men and women ultimately derive from the differences between of X and Y chromossomes - men have 46, XY and women have 46, XX.

Because there is a great difference between the autism rate for men and women, we can safely assume it's a disease somehow related to the X chromossome. A rare, recessive allele of the X chromossome is somehow correlated with autism. This can be said if we consider that one man would only need one rare, recessive allele in order to contract autism (or have his autism powers "increased"), while a woman would need two rare alleles, because men are XY and women are XX.

Consider sexual chromossomes cordinate the production of hormones, we can assume they are usually quantitative rather than qualitative, which means different alleles of the same kind will produce certain amounts of proteins. So that means women have even stronger forms of autism than men, since men can have one autism allele, but women, two.

All of this is, of course, pure speculation typed by a highschool dropout.

Well, I've read that the Chinese bubble is deflating, the whole world is tackling debt, and the Cold War was settled with proxies, so, tbqh, there's a very high chance nothing will happen at all. If that's the case, then I'm not sure what direction world history is headed. Will world maps retain practically the same borders as of today for yet another 100 years? Will the current political-economic system maintain its status quo? I suppose the answer is, at one point, this all will eventually change, we just don't know if it's going to be in one year or one century from now, and if things will take either one month or one decade to change. Or I could be wrong and human history has really ended and, in that case, we're just slowly progressing to a dystopian game-over.

The 3 most likely The Happening contenders that would drastically alter the course of history are
(i) America being dragged into a war against China in the South China Sea.
(ii) Another terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11 in NA or Europe.
(iii) Nuclear weapons being deployed by either India, Pakistan, North Korea, or Terrorists.

Of course, the gradual decline of the USA as a world power caused by either isolationism or external means would have a huge impact in the long run, but that's not really a Happening.

Africa is going to be very interesting in the coming decades. China has been investing heavily on the continent and is winning favour in a lot of places. This will be a concern to the USA and France in particular, as well as regional powers like South Africa.

I still think South East Asia is the area to watch though. The USA is too heavily invested there to not get entangled should China be more militarily aggressive. And a war between those two would be catastrophic on a global scale, even if it did just ultimately boil down to proxy war.

Eh, I'm okay with that. Any such Happening would most likely have taken place in Europe, and that's a bit too close for comfort.
>>
>>72814582
(i) America wouldn't go to war with China unless they REALLY had to. It's a massive nation with a huge population and backed up by nukes. Unless they try to annex everywhere from Laos to Papua New Guinea, America's not going to go to extremes even with Trump.
(ii) Depends on the country. If ISIS tried to blow up the colosseum then Italians would slaughter every last mudskin in the country and shoot the boats as they come in which would spur more anti-Islam sentiment in Europe and deter migrants. Germany could have Dresden suicide bombed to less than WWII levels and still encourage acceptance. France are tricky. They've been overly lenient with terror but there's still nationalism in them. Maybe an attack on a national monument could spur it.
(iii) North Korea's heating up and it's possible for terrorists to be supplied with nukes. Don't know enough about India and Pakistan but I imagine such attacks would only really affect them.

The second one will probably just increase tensions, and maybe lead to more proxy wars, but could lead to either of the other two big ones you mentioned. If /int/ still exists after the Happening I want to see the reaction to an Indian nuke.
>>72814694
Africa will also be interesting to see if a superpower does rise there, even if it's just something like Nigeria gaining prominence due to a major increase in population and therefore more power potentially. They could be fucked though if they increase the population massively without an increase in resources, they already seem pretty strained, if it gets worse things could blow up there, even if they have already to an extent.
South East Asia could blow with the South China Sea situation.

Only (i) could potentially make the world burn.
And, as previously mentioned, if (i) ever happens, it won't be because small, underwater oilfields. It will be because of debt, financial maneuvering, etc..

http://money.visualcapitalist.com/all-of-the-worlds-money-and-markets-in-one-visualization/

Of course (ii) and (iii) would have global repercussions, but they would never cause the global thermonuclear war that will inexorably fuck up with humanity.

>>72814694
This is correct. Consider how Trump has mentioned he tends to prefer billateral agreements over bloc treaties. If you look deep into it, you'll see that the Chinese investments in Africa are direct consequence of their bilateral agreements with African nations. That being said, many African nations might as well economically allign themselves with the United States. Also keep in mind Africa has many rare, valuable natural resources that are useful to tech and mil industries. I haven't been following SEA much, but, as far as I can tell, it's mostly US territory.

I feel like the cards have already dealed, and there can only be a few changes on the overall board (like how Duterte made the Philippines lean closer to China). Pakistan is a bit of a wildcard, it's allies with both China and the USA (Pakistan hosting many US military bases). Pakistan is an enemy to India - like China -, but Pakistan also has bad relations with Russia (weapons embargo, rice embargo, etc.), and Russia is an ally of China.

And finally, my main concern is Japan. I'm really scared that the Holy Land might be nuked if WW3 breaks out. Recently, the CCP has removed the part that says that China shall never make agressive use of nuclear weapons in their yearly strategical report. And there are plenty of tactical targets in Japan, like the USS Ronald Reagan. North Korea could target Tokyo strategically just for the bantz.

>America wouldn't go to war with China unless they REALLY had to
They have defense pacts with countries in the region, the most potentially risky of which being the Philippines. For now, that's enough of a deterrence for China. But if China can't win the Philippines over to its side (like it is currently attempting to do), that may change - especially if Trump wavers in the region. Pivoting towards Asia was one of the strong elements of Obama's tenure.

>Depends on the country
Very much so. Hence why I debated adding that to the list in the way I did. No offense to our resident Germanbro, but Germany and Sweden are too far gone. The rest of Europe would definitely react negatively though to a 9/11 scale terrorist attack on their home soil.

>North Korea's heating up
Kim is inexperienced, but he's not an idiot. Tensions will rise, but as long as NK have China's backing and SK the USA's, nothing will happen.

>Don't know enough about India and Pakistan but I imagine such attacks would only really affect them.
The only reason I added them was because of long-term tensions between the two, India's growth as a regional power, and the fact that other than North Korea, they are the two "wild card" nuclear nations.

>If /int/ still exists after the Happening I want to see the reaction to an Indian nuke.
The day of the true Happening will be a very interesting day on /int/, regardless of what it is.

>Africa will also be interesting to see if a superpower does rise there
Personally I don't think that will happen due to the sheer amount of internal conflict on the African continent. It would be a simple matter of them not being able to get their shit together. It may happen at some point in the future, but certainly not in our lifetimes.

That probably will happen, but if those reports on the world's population increasing massively in the future with most of that being in strained Africa are true that could lead to conflict elsewhere if they want more resources. If there's too many people there you could see the same people today pushing for more immigration of people who are searching for these resources, which is just inviting more people into a country where your idea of a 9/11 attack can occur, or of they do unite in some form of an alliance they could attack somewhere to try and gain resources, it's likely that it could be part of a proxy war between some of the superpowers.
Then again those reports could be bullshit, some of them probably have some intervention in them by the usual vested interests such as NGOs and arms manufacturers who benefit from aid being sent to Africa and have no interest in improving their situation, and want to stay on the gravy train.

>Of course (ii) and (iii) would have global repercussions, but they would never cause the global thermonuclear war that will inexorably fuck up with humanity.
I personally don't think any of the 3 on the list could. I consider global thermonuclear war to be an incredibly remote possibility. Despite my cynicism, I think as a global community we have "matured" since the Cold War and it would require a tectonic shift in global geopolitics for the concept of MAD to be taken into serious consideration once more.

>>72815080
>That being said, many African nations might as well economically allign themselves with the United States
But doubts may arise if China continues to invest aggressively in developing African countries. The USA is not doing so with the same aggression. A China with a band of African allies could be a strong challenge to Cold War-era American and French dominance on the continent.

>I haven't been following SEA much, but, as far as I can tell, it's mostly US territory.
For now. China is doing its utmost to win allies i the region in order to reduce American interference (the most important of which being historical US ally, the Philippines).

>And finally, my main concern is Japan
Really? I'd consider them relatively safe. Japan doesn't want a fight with China, and China won't touch Japan because of all American allies in Asia, Japan is by far the most fervent and well-equipped. China also has little to gain strategically from a war with Japan. They have disputes over a few islands, but nothing on the scale of the situation in the South China Sea.

>but if those reports on the world's population increasing massively in the future with most of that being in strained Africa are true that could lead to conflict elsewhere if they want more resources.
I predict a lot of wars on the African continent between African nations in the coming decades as they develop, with resources being the prime motivator for conflict. That said, beyond selling arms, training troops, and possible UN intervention, I think the possibility of a proxy war between the USA and China is slim (but I'm not going to write it off).

>If there's too many people there you could see the same people today pushing for more immigration of people who are searching for these resources
I genuinely think that immigration will continue to be the big issue of our time, and may well contribute to a large scale Happening.

I don't think we even have that many bunkers here, there's a rumour that there's one under the mound in Merrion Square for politicians, and I think one supposedly exists in Ballymena or somewhere in that general area. The best we have is to protect ourselves are 16 year old Iodine tablets and some tunnels like the Dublin Port and Lynch tunnels.

I was more thinking of a proxy war on the scale of the current Syrian Civil war, which is more likely, even if that doesn't have direct intervention from the US or China.

That's what I was thinking of too. But while China is heavily financially invested in certain African countries, I don't think it is anywhere close to the point where they would get militarily involved in an African conflict (other than UN work). If was different during the Cold War due to the ideological conflict between Capitalism and Communism. China is only Communist in name, so that's not going to be a catalyst this time around.

But even if China was to help and African ally in a local war (I'm not going to rule out the possibility after all - it's hard to discern China's long term African plans), I'm not sure if the USA would be up for a fight. The only African countries it really cares about at the moment are in North Africa, where China is not investing. Now if China was to stick it's nose in Somalia or the Sahel region, things could change very quickly.

>I predict a lot of wars on the African continent between African nations in the coming decades as they develop
I doubt they will happen. And if they happen, a superpower would simply, promptly intervene in the conflict, ensuring borders remain intact.

Come to think of it, Latin America has 99% of the resources found in Africa, and all of Latin America is indisputable US playground. Most mining, oiler, etc., companies of countries such as Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, etc., are owned by American companies. George Soros (or one of his associates, I don't know) bought Vale in the 90s, company which today mines coal and iron from Mozambique. Therefore, since (subsaharan) Africa is basically nothing besides natural resources, there's not much of a reason for the US to spend time and effort there, as they already have an entire continent for themselves.

Still, burgers could make a lot of money by opening McDonald's restaurants in developing African countries.
