The street I lived on back in 2000 was alright, bit raggedy but friendly. Lot of families and the streets were clean, there was a phone box you could use and stuff. It was multi-cultural, people from all over, of every ethnicity, but there was never a problem.

Now, half the houses have immigrants, all men between the age of 20-40, living 5 to a bedroom. The money they can get together between them for rent has priced the families and students out of the area. Almost every house has trash dumped outside of it. Boxes from widescreen TVs, knackered fridges, sofas etc. There's always at least one bin on it's side. Walk from one end to another and you'll go past at least one group of 4-5 asian men just standing around on the street, speaking a language that isn't English. Every time someone I know brings up the subject it's to discuss a stabbing, or a girl being kidnapped or assaulted.

I can't speak for all of Britain but there are parts of my city that have been absolutely gutted in the last 15 years and I don't see how it can ever be put right.
