"Finns" came from Russia thousands of years ago. In the way they came to Finland, some went more up north, and got mixed with Siberian Samojedis. They then went to Lapland and became Saamis.
The ones that came from south, first went to Estonia. About 3000 they came to South-Finland. The ones that remained in Estonia, got mixed at least with Baltics. "Finns" in Finland got mixed with Scandinavs, and remotely Saamis, and some other people.
Saamis share bit similar language as Finns (they lived in same areas) but in many ways Finns and Saamis are different.

There's nothing at all wrong with haplogroups even if there are tons of loons around them thinking that they can equate some specific haplogroup with ethnic groups 10000 years into the past.

One thing they are really good for is ruling out admixture. If half of an ethnic group X have a certain haplogroup A, any group that significantly mixes with X will gain that haplogroup A and conversely, if an ethnic group Y lacks haplogroup A they cannot be mixed with X. Finnish male haplogroups are so distinctive and lacking in Scandinavian that we can completely rule out admixture from Swedish males.

In any case we don't have to stick to haplogroups because there's a whole ton of typical Western European genetic signatures that are plentiful in Scandinavians and entirely lacking in Finns. Everything is consistent with the picture that was already built by 19th century linguistics, that Finns are a Finno-Ugric + Balto-Slavic admixture (not from Russians but from some earlier Balt-like people).

This is the same with looks, there are basically no square-head Germanic-looking ethnic Finns and we are much easier to tell apart from Scandinavians than from Balts.
