I read news from different sources, but stay away from the most common media. https://www.project-syndicate.org is pretty neat for current events illuminated by current thought leaders. For history the way is to just read and absorb anything you can, I guess. I'm curious about Ireland and the bong/potato conflict because it's so peculiar, the two islands with the different cultures, the elite and the peasants etc. Hundreds of years of fiefdom and proper oppression has made a very interesting kettle of fish.
