It was colonized by the Portuguese, a low IQ European population that also institutionalized miscegenation with less intelligent races, which consequentially lowered the average IQ of Brazil even further.

The Portuguese also didn't conquer the African slaves brought to Brazil, they simply purchased them from Africans themselves, where many slaves were in fact criminals. Brazilians are descended not only from a mix of various low IQ populations, but also from extremely violent African criminals, Brazil being the result of said failed blend: extremely high poverty and homicide rates, institutionalized corruption, poor education, low development rates and everything else that comes with a low IQ population.

The monarchy ended slavary, the farmers were pissed off and decided to try republic. We've been figuring it out for the last hundred years or so.

First the millitary took over, then the farmers of two states decided only they should govern, then a guy came from another state and became our facist leader for some time, killed himself, then everything worked out fine for a decade or so , millitary took over again for 20 years, they eventually gave up trying to fix things, democracy again, worked out fine until the left was ellected and now we're in this mess.

Anglos/Saxons also became the main host nations in the EU, while the Iberians became parasite nations. Average IQ again proving to be the leading factor on how nations develop.

PPP is a meme because it adjusts for prices of products, which makes places like India where everything is dirt cheap look good on paper, when in reality Indian economy is poor but growing

I unironically fear Brazil more than I fear China or India as a potential superpower.

China and India have tons of eventual logistical hurtles that they still have to deal with like population unsustainability, and lack of exposure to the 1st world.

Once the standard of living in China gets close to that of a 1st world country, they are gonna experience the same shock Japan did except 10x worse with their insane demographic problems and population size.

The productivity/IQ regions in Brazil overwhelm the high productivity/IQ regions. Only a few states in Brazil sustain the entire federation, some of which have already collapsed financially from all that burden. São Paulo alone for instance loses 93% of its GDP to federal taxation, which is roughly equivalent to a Marshall Plan/year. Brazil will inevitably collapse entirely if nothing changes.

This host-parasite relationship between the upper half and the lower half of Brazil has halted the development rates in Brazil's lower half and also didn't quite improve the upper half of Brazil, as expected from a socialist, nanny welfare state.

Nah. The African slaves brought to Brazil by the Portuguese were mainly rapists, thieves and murderers who eventually became slaves to the Africans themselves. During the colonization of Australia the British government had the death penalty for rapists and murderers, and those were not sent to Australia.

Also, a potential solution for this problem [as I've personally noticed] would be to simply meme Brazil into balkanization by hating Brazilians indiscriminately. Hating them online at any opportunity, not only through casual banter but through real offenses, showing them how much of a failed shithole Brazil actually is.

After the impeachment of Dilma and now during the Petrobras scandal Brazil unironically gained another secessionist movement, and that's exactly São Paulo's. Now we have both Southern Brazil and São Paulo working in conjunction for the secessionist goal. This new "rotten meat scandal" and the many other scandals that will inevitably flourish in Brazil will drastically boost our movement.

I also noticed that those who are most pro-Brazil are the boomers. As they die off the secessionist goal becomes closer to accomplishment over the generations.

Of all states, Rio de Janeiro is the one that more desperately needs to secede from Brazil, and this comes from a Gaúcho. The damage Brazil has caused to them is probably beyond repair at this point. They butchered what used to be the most prosperous portion of Brazil. It's literally catastrophic what happened to RJ, specially considering what it used to be until the fall of the military.

Tourists being raped and murdered with tanks rolling through favelas isn't even atypical in Rio de Janeiro. Our problem in Southern Brazil is also entirely related to Brazil's war on drugs, which directly affects us. The problem with Rio isn't merely due to the war on drugs, as even the average citizen in Rio is a criminal.

If you're that same Québécois you should be aware of that, and their traditional "jeitinho".

>>72642182

They could try not to rip us off. From all the taxes our state collects, only 10% are given back to us. 90% stays with the federal government and are redirected to states that don't collect as much.

Also, we used to collect royaties from oil exploration in Rio's coast. More than 80% of all the oil and gas extracted in Brazil come from our state. Until recently we had the right to collect these royalties as a payback for all the enviromental trouble and infrastructure used by the National Oil Company (petrobras) But the federal government got to greedy and decided to split this income evenly between all the 27 states. Now have to deal with the same problems but we don't have the means to do so.
It's worthless.

As we speak. Rio de Janeiro State is nearly bankrupt. Several services provided by the government are suspended including sectors of health and education. The state university ceased working last year until further notice and their students are home waiting to finish the second terms of 2016 (delayed more than half a year)

The federal government only agreed to bail us out after we sold several important assets of our state.

>So if the capital of Brazil was kept in Rio, do you believe that the politicians would make an effort to decrease crime and corruption
>Because Brasilia is in the middle of nowhere, they can keep safe from the chaos on the coasts?
Both are right, yes. Brasília was a mistake. All in the name of a "countryside integration" that never happened and only served to isolate our politicians from the population.
>and did you say that rio has more freedom to make trade deals than other states or less?
I meant that if we (Rio) were to become an independent country, we would have freedom to "play our strenghts", meaning we would be able to have better trade deals with foreign countries than what we have right now as part of Brazil. Rio industries are mainly on heavy (steel, metals, etc), naval and oil, but Brazil as a whole isn't the same, meaning countrywide deals don't necessarily benefit us
Another good example on why it would be good for us, is this whole "rotten meat" thing, Rio doesn't produce meat en masse and the only thing left for us was to send State supervisors to check our meat supply. If we were a country on its own right, we would've banned meat from Brazil already, but we can't.

And that's why I mentioned "predominantly ethnically British or at least European". The British set the foundation for superior colonies, therefore Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada, together with numerous other former colonies that remained under British influence for decades.

The Iberians didn't keep a single overseas territory, and aside from Argentina, not a single one of their former colonies remained predominantly European, let alone predominantly Iberian.

>inb4 Uruguay was a Spanish colony
No, it wasn't. It already had people living there, mostly mestizos (Spanish deserters and Charruas) way before the Spanish occupation of Banda Oriental and its later annexation by Portugal, to the eventual independence of Uruguay 8 years later. Uruguay today is predominantly Italian and German, with various other European ethnicities.

The success rates of Anglos were infinitely superior to that of Iberians, which is literally 0. Anglos set the foundation for the most powerful nation on Earth today, together with 3 of the most prosperous nations worldwide, and the only fully functional colony in South America, unironically an isolated archipelago in the middle of nowhere with little to no resources.

Saying the Anglos wouldn't have been successful in South America as they were in North America is blatant bullshit.

[citation required]

>Britain had a huge population that could populate places like NZ and USA
You're mistaken. Most of the American East Coast was indeed mostly colonized by British settlers, and specially by the Irish and the Scottish. The rest of the USA was mostly colonized by Germans. The British also had the "progressive expansionism" strategy that allowed them to slowly develop their colonies to fit British standards of living, instead of expanding throughout the whole place and building a bunch of isolated slum-ridden shitholes like the Iberians did.

Australia and Canada and also very small nations when you check their population density as well. The British knew how to properly settle land.

We did appeal to the supreme court regarding the oil&gas royalties. Our senators did a campaing as well.

But ultimatelly it was the power of 26 states that would win a little extra income against one state loosing. Considering that only one company can explore oil in this country and that 51% of it's shares belongs to the federal government. The battle was lost from the beginning.

And our constitution suffocates the power of the states. It's ilegal to brake the "pact" (that's the actual word) between states, cities and the federal government.

>but I cannot blame Portugal one bit as their population is fucking tiny
Extensive expansionism instead of progressive expansionism was their mistake, and they're definitely to blame. They expanded MUCH further than what was previously proposed by the Treaty of Tordesillas and they also brough sub-Saharan African criminals to Brazil instead of actual Europeans. Their main goal from the start was not to properly colonize and settle Brazil, but to simply extract its precious metals, send it to Portugal and forget it ever existed. They couldn't care less about their extensive expansionism, millions of sub-Saharan Africans [descended from violent criminals and with no skill whatsoever], and the misery they'd spread throughout the area afterwards.

Florianópolis in Santa Catarina is the only Portuguese (Azorean) colony that remained indeed predominantly Iberian and became successful exactly because it was a legitimate Portuguese settlement where they also expanded progressively.

I ain't being one. My region was mostly colonized by Italians and I'm quite glad of that actually. Iberians ruined everything they touched. Any other European colonist group would've been infinitely more successful than them.

>Portugal did a better job than Spanish
No, they did not. Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica and Peru are considerably more prosperous than Brazil as whole, and the only remotely decent places in Brazil were in fact colonized by other European groups, Levantine Arabs and the Japanese. Northern Brazil more accurately depicts what Portuguese colonies actually look like.

Why would you say "men" then? Are you some kind of self-hating literal cuck?

You are a lesbo aren't you? Post tits pls.

What did they say?
>>
>>72644979
Did you even read my post?

>Their main goal from the start was not to properly colonize and settle Brazil, but to simply extract its precious metals, send it to Portugal and forget it ever existed. They couldn't care less about their extensive expansionism, millions of sub-Saharan Africans [descended from violent criminals and with no skill whatsoever], and the misery they'd spread throughout the area afterwards.

They didn't want to do a great job because they literally didn't care about actually doing that. Pedro I declared the independence of Brazil when the Portuguese left Brazil to rot. They literally couldn't care less about the shithole they had left behind.

I think we can all agree that the lebanese and polish immigrants are the best.

Because women didn't care. I always have a good time with them outside Rio. Most are curious and find my accent cute. Outsiders have a distorted view that all cariocas speak like favelados, so when they see one that do not, they are "surprised".
>>72645105
Usual shit """"jokes"""" about being a criminal. I broke some teeth in POA because of that.

>>72645178

Honestly if it wasn't for the Poles/Ukrainians, Germans and Italians, as a matter of fact Curitiba would look like the average Iberian shithole. The Lebanese in São Paulo were all former members of the Turkish merchant aristocracy, obviously they would skyrocket the economy of São Paulo. Literally every Lebanese family in SP today comes from an exceptionally wealthy background.

I didn't get mad about the joke, otherwise I would've acted the same way elsewhere, I got mad because of the disrespect. The retarded manlet kept provoking me and my gf. Hell, he didn't even know me.
