>The crisis was triggered by a huge federal police operation on Friday.
It found evidence that meatpackers had been selling rotten and substandard produce for several years.
>The meat industry plays an important part in the Brazilian economy, with exports worth more than $12bn (£9.7bn) a year.
>>
I'm quite confident (hopeful) that I haven't been buying Brazilian meat in the past
>>
Wait.
Are you telling me that Brazil exports something else but poverty and emigrants?
>>
>>72571118
It's literally a CIA+Brazilian Federal Police scheme to undermine every industry we have. Latin America is going to begin importing US/European meat soon
>>
>>72571267
si. 30 millioni cittadini italiani
>>
>>72571390
that's the 'exporting poverty' he was talking about

>>72571267
like most banana republics Brazil exports a lot of raw materials such as oil, meat, soybean, fruits, coffee, cocoa seeds etc. and by a lot i mean A LOT
>>
>>72571152
Everyone has, and nothing ever happened, it's unironically a scheme to destroy our industries and our hegemony. First was our construction companies, now meat, next probably beer and perfumes. Then Brazil is an abomination and needs to go back to be a cheap commodity exporter full of poverty for first world countries
>>
>>72571529
I forgot about Petrobrás also
>>
>>72571118
>It found evidence that meatpackers had been selling rotten and substandard produce for several years.
chinks did exactly the same thing years ago. but they managed to settle it.
>>
>>72571529
WELL MAYBE THESE INDUSTRIES SHOULDN'T BE DOING ILLEGAL SHIT EVER THOUGHT OF THAT?

This meat deal is a smaller deal than people think but I don't care if the police burns down the whole country as long as they stop corruption.
>>
>>72571529
So selling rotten meat is perfectly fine?
>>
>>72571702
>This meat deal is a smaller deal than people think but I don't care if the police burns down the whole country as long as they stop corruption.
Well that's because you are rich and protected from the economy crisis
>>72571724
Yeah, unironically 3 fridges in the whole country that exports meat to the entire world! OMG BRAZIL MEAT IS SO SHIT! OMG KILL BRAZIL NOW!
>>
>>72571763
>OMG BRAZIL MEAT IS SO SHIT! OMG KILL BRAZIL NOW!
Nobody is saying that. But even if it was a single kilo it would have still been wrong because those producers did it on purpose.
>>
>>72571724
Exports are not fiscalized by our agents, but yours too. Most rotten meat was unironically for our internal market. Also there are no proofs but a recording from an employee from a small meat fridge in the south.
>>
>>72571841
Yeah, so let's penalize every single meat industry in the biggest meat exporter of the world because of a single kilo of meat. I mean it's totally not political at all!
>>
>>72571702
>WELL MAYBE THESE INDUSTRIES SHOULDN'T BE DOING ILLEGAL SHIT EVER THOUGHT OF THAT?
honestly i'd be more worried about the meat that contained cocaine and heroin packages inbetween
then again it's nothing that several months of bad reputation and getting back to standard requirements can't fix
saying it's all a conspiracy from tha Man to bring a brutha down is too commie. accepting the penalties, redoing your work and getting back to your feet is the way to do things
>>
>>72571118
Who the fuck would ever buy meat from the third world?
>>
>>72571908
Even the congress which is somewhat US-aligned is going against the Federal Police now. They simply want to see Brazil burn with no regrets, and use the international media for that
>>

>>
>>72571845
You are seriously underestimating the scope of the investigation here, we are talking about the biggest PF operation of all time in this country.
Other countries are overreacting but that's natural, same thing happens with any food scare.

This is better for us in the long run, Brazil already has a reputation of oozing corruption everywhere you look but this is at least starting to change, think of it as a chemotherapy.
>>
>>72572039
Yeah, and you are one of the biggest importers of our meat
>>
Next the coffee and soy beans
>>
>>72572059
>chemotherapy
more like terminal cancer, they simply want to ruin Brazilian Image worldwide by shitposting at the international media. I mean they haven't even got proofs but a recording of the supposed international scheme of rotten meat. If they cared about solving our problems they would have it under secret and then after the jugdement do it. The media does not give a fuck at all about our image and want if everything to forever destroy it for views, there is no chemotherapy but forever chaos for profit and clickbaits
>>
xiii.. falar com petralha é foda mesmo
>>
You know, when it happened I said it could destroy your industry and Brazilians on /int/ were laughing.
>>
I dont understand how this happened (the rotting meat part, not the crime). Was it a logistics problem? How did they let the meat rot?

Brazilian logistics most likely yeah.
>>
>>72572238
Just imagine like this, they got a recording of a small meat seller that supposedly sold rotten meat, and released as if everyone was like this and as if every country got it. It's literally a political action to destroy every industry we got. First was Petrobrás, then Odebrecht, now JBS and Brazil Foods, next is Natura and Ambev. Now we are forever a colony of first world countries
>>

summarizing this scandal; overreaction
only a very small part of the production was affected, and damaged only the internal market
the exp products pass through a heavy auditing process, where the gringos audit the meat themselves
it is unlikely bad quality meat have been exported
bur this already become a meme and the damage was done; bravo! brazilians
>>
>>72574351
Three containers filled with salmonella meat were shipped to Europe this month.
>>
>>72571529

agreed
but the damage was already done
media plus histerical mass have done the trick
it will be very hard to recover from this
>>
>>72574416
They don't know if they were really with salmonella
>>
>>72574416

sauce pls
and tree containers still represents a small part of the whole production
what i'm saying is; of course this is sth correct to do, and the companies must be punished accordingly
what i'm trying to do is tracing a line between reality and hysteria, because this shit have become a meme
and the impact is extremely huge for us

>The meat industry plays an important part in the Brazilian economy
Wikipedia tells me Brazil's exports were valued at $800 billion in 2016, of which 12 billion is 1,5%. Real fucking important.
>>
>>72574848

yes, it does
regardless if it is a concrete fact or a supposition, what matters it is how fast a news can be deliver
with the help of facebook n' shiet this is already an irreversible damage
>>

We are the largest meat exporter of the world
>>
>>72575751
1,5%. Of exports, not total GDP. It's fucking nothing, just sell that shit in the domestic market until EU and China lift the ban.
>>
>>72575661

yes, it is important
the whole exp is the sum of many, but many products or raw material we export
loosing this impacts not only the economic part, but as well as our image, which is alreay bad
summarizing; we are fucked up
>>

If we imported beef from brazil it would be cheap.
Beef in Poland is fucking expensive, can't be from huezil.

There's a Rio de Janeiro guy who floods LiveLeak, CNN (before they shut down their comments section), Zero Hora, YouTube, etc., with bolivarian, anti-"gringo" and anti-SouthRegion shitposting.

In 4chan he spreads misleading Wikipedia rankings presenting them like showing socio-economic/demographic variables they don't show for real or are contaminated with distortions caused by (Rio) oil industry, and geological/geophysical maps pretending they are "socio-demographic maps" just to put Rio State among Southern States.

Maybe it's a severe inferiority complex case, or maybe it's a classic "State-sponsored sockpuppetry" case - BRICS countries have expertise in such thing (especially Russia). Maybe someone someday will make a Rio/Bolivarian version of "Le Liberator" meme...

I won't discuss "working class" with Rio scum because you don't know what "working" means. Left-wing orthodoxy, followed by cultists. Our military government in the 60's attempted a nationalist industrialization, so we did get a few industries (we actually make all of our autos, for instance), but that came at a cost. These days, it created a strong union so rolling back on protectionism means a whole lot of noise and borderline political suicide for whoever attempts it. Too bad too, because we have lost a lot of trade opportunities in the 2000's because of this.

>>
>>72591516
>I mean it makes sense with domestic agriculture
The other way around. Our agriculture is generally extremely developed and automated, so no protectionism is generally needed. It's competitive enough that it doesn't even need government intervention usually.

Meanwhile if we stopped protecting our manufacturies they would all go belly up. Essentially, we have done that somehow by giving up protecting our computer industries, etc. Giving up our automobile industry will probably never happen though. The unions will chimp out and burn down half of São Paulo if that happens.

>>
>>72592514
>what makes you think the average person doesn't too?
I never said they don't, or even that's rare, I'm saying it's not socially acceptable. Back in university I had a friend who was in his late 20's, probably around 33 by now, and he told us that back when he was "our age", meaning, 18-22, it was normal to fuck 13 year olds and be more or less open about it. People still do it, obviously, but you have to keep it on the down low. The culture has changed, and the word pedophile is thrown around quite liberally these days.
