It's on my father's healthcare plan and he's a fucking lawyer too, so it's not some ghetto-ass insurance either. UHC if you are wondering.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supremacy_Clause

What is the Supremacy Clause Cletus?

>The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution (Article VI, Clause 2) establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the supreme law of the land.[1] It provides that state courts are bound by the supreme law; in case of conflict between federal and state law, the federal law must be applied. Even state constitutions are subordinate to federal law.[2]

>This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing [sic] in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

>The constitutional principle derived from the Supremacy Clause is federal preemption. Preemption applies regardless of whether the conflicting laws come from legislatures, courts, administrative agencies, or constitutions. For example, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, an act of Congress, preempts state constitutions, and Food and Drug Administration regulations may preempt state court judgments in cases involving prescription drugs.
Congress has preempted state regulation in many areas. In some cases, such as the 1976 Medical Device Regulation Act, Congress preempted all state regulation. In others, such as labels on prescription drugs, Congress allowed federal regulatory agencies to set national minimum standards, but did not preempt state regulations imposing more stringent standards than those imposed by federal regulators. Where rules or regulations do not clearly state whether or not preemption should apply, the Supreme Court tries to follow lawmakers’ intent, and prefers interpretations that avoid preempting state laws.[7]

Constantly trying to horde their money instead of helping their fellow man. Is America the uber jew?
>>
>>72517171
It isn't. It's a commodity.

OP it isn't economically feasible. I don't understand the sentiment that by providing it for all it will somehow become cheaper. It's expensive enough as it is- mandating that it be accessible to all won't make it any cheaper. Instead those providing the healthcare would suddenly find themselves with the power to gouge the government for healthcare expenditure and the price would increase even further.

Yeah. Zero. It didn't need republican votes. 219 people voted for it, every single one of them a democrat.

Healthcare costs too much to be effectively handled by the states while providing coverage and care equivalent to a universal healthcare system. The CBO has shown this. Some problems are too large to be handled by the states alone.

I unironically think third world countries like Argentina have a good balance.

Free Universal Heatlhcare exists, but only poor people use it. The rest use private medicine.
It is basically free healthcare for the poor + knowing that if you ever were to be unemployed for a long time (for whatever reason), you would still have access to free healthcare.

People who work use private medicine because the service is much more comfortable (not better medicine, just more comfortable), basically, in the case of free state healthcare, you have to wake up very early in the morning and queue in a waiting room for 2 hours with over +100 poor low class people (unless its an urgency like getting shot, giving birth etc) to see the corresponding doctor.

most people prefer to pay to avoid that and be able to get a turn through the phone at whatever time they want from a lot of clinics, or even have a doctor visit them in their house.

In my case a % of my wage goes to my union and they give me in exchange a private medicine plan, apart from that I pay around 640 dollars per month for my parents (mother had rectal and lung cancer, father is disabled, both are retired). They could have free state healthcare but paying is simpler than wasting a lot of time queuing.

>>
>>72522357
Not an argument, Billy-Bob
>>
>>72522408
There's a huge restriction on healthcare supply. in the US. some states have around 1/3rd as many physicians and medical facilities per 1000 people than what you get thru most of the EU.

So supply is super low, price goes up.

As it stands if we were to "socialize" it we'd still need to address the supply problems, otherwise the government would have to do when they're doling out something in low supply -- ration (long waits.) So we could just address the supply problems now without socializing to bring price down. But it seems neither the republicans or democrats are really willing to do it (which is great for dems, because it ensures our system will be insanely expensive and help them argue for socialized healthcare as a solution, even when it's going to hit a brick wall when it launches if all the supply problems are still in place.)

You can look up information about CON laws (still exists in 35 states, some states only just got rid of them) as well as how the AMA has lobbied to prevent the creation of new needed doctors by limiting residencies, making it difficult for doctors to move to this country and begin practicing medicine here, and attacking highly available forms of healthcare like retail care.

>>72522427
evil business boogeymen are going to get you, finn.

At the end of the day the organization effecting the price of healthcare the most is a labor union -- the AMA.

>>72522427
There is also the fear of lawsuits if something goes awry. So X-rays, for example, are always taken at max resolution, which is usually not neccessary and leads to higher rad doses, just because something might come up and the patient don't get to sue later.
