USA Anons, I'm being lied to, right?
Do you guys have to legally kick out your kids at 18? And there are checks done if you don't.
I was also told that the only way kids stay together with their parents after 18 is if they pay rent.
Kinda sad

It's not true
It's either with money or emotions.
>>72497955
No kids can stay with their parents after 18
The parents can decide if the kid pays rent or can just stay
It's just seen as really, really embarrassing to not be independent and self sufficient from the moment you become an adult

It sounded dumb, but I was told that their family members had people check on them to make sure that the kids left home after 18.
this is in California, btw

23 here, still live with mother.
Hopefully will be moving out here shortly. Got a friend who is buying a house since he makes like $20 an hour.
All parents kick their kids out at 18, it's the law. If you don't then you start incurring exponential fines and eventually jail time.

This is actually true. I thought it was a meme for a long time until I met multiple Indians in real life and they confirmed it.

Here in Scandinavia it's expected that you move out somewhere to start your own adult life after you're 18, have a job, and so on.
Myself, I'm 22 and live with my mother. I'm really to old for it to be completely socially acceptable, but I'm moving out this summer.
If you live with your parents too long, people will eventually wonder if there is something wrong with you.
