Paella is truly the epitome of spanish lifestyle. Show up 1 hour too late and then don't have enough time to peel the shellfood and just settle for plain rice as side dish. I love Russian cuisine but most people in cities have no idea about it. When they come to my place they make big eyes when I terat them to something. Our nation is worse than Americans. They never had any culture but we had and totally lost it. Those who were blessed with village relatives to visit may or may not know Russian food, depends on a place. I also lurk the web and it has zero legit info in English. What our ministry of culture is doing? Sad.

I would separate it into five main categories:

1. Soups (schi, ukha, meat soups, mushroom soups, borsch).
2. Porridges (buckwheat, millet, semolina, hemp).
3. Pies (mostly huge pies for 10 or omre family members and small pies with same fillings usually made for kids or to give on holidays).
4. Any stuff baked down (porridge, eggs, noodles, fish, meat).
5. Salted down, pickled, soaked, etc.

There are also sweets but they're few.

Maybe I would create a thread on /ck/ if I'm not lazy. I have some knowledge and good books so I can tell recipes and shiet if anyone is interested.
