That's rude to be honest. Adherents from these faiths/believes can also call the abrahamic adherents pagans as well.

polytheist / monotheist would be correct

Hindus call non-dharmic religions mleccha which literally means uncivilized.

>Pagans and paganism was a pejorative for the same polytheistic group, implying "inferiority".[3] Paganism has broadly connoted "religion of the peasantry",[1] and for much of its history a derogatory term.[4] Alternate terms in Christian texts for the same group was "hellene" and "gentile".[1] In and after the Middle Ages, paganism was a prejorative that was applied to any non-Abrahamic or unfamiliar religion, and the term presumed a belief in false god(s).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paganism
>>
>>72396738
So it just applies to any non-Abrahamic religion?
>>
>>72396755
yes but more importantly which part of 'pejorative', 'inferiority', 'religion of the peasantry', 'derogatory' and 'belief in false god(s)' did you not get?

It's like saying everyone else who's not a middle eastern religionist is retard.

its really up to ones' own aesthetic preferences, or if they're ethnically indian in the case of hinduism

Religion is for the sheeple, so around 98% of the population.

Only dumb people need religion and atheism(science based religion)
That's why it's so easy to push the new ideas, degenerate the society, turn it all around and make people die for interests of another man. Majority of people don't understand anything and don't know what the hell is really going on. They just work, shit, eat, sleep and fuck like mindless beasts,

Average human is simply stupid.

Some offshoots of hellenic paganism in europe was actually quiete close to hinduism. Pythagoreans were vegetarians, beliefed in reincarnation and prayed to an indoeuropean pantheon.

that's a hypothetical situation. but i agree it's not that simple. It was generally used to denote people who didn't had a vedic culture.
similar to how greeks used 'barbaros'.
>>
Pagan is a bad swear word, it is a derivative from Latin word Paganus(Pagus) which means peasant, village people. HRE named outsiders pagans because fuck you.
>>
>>72402110
Off yourself, Charlemagne was basically a subhuman
>>
>>72402154
Barbaros means stuttere, as in not able to speak greek properly. They also had theories about climate making people different, which meant they thought of themselves as superiour to the northeners and deep south people because their climate was in the middle of all and thus produced the most balanced people.
The egyptians however they treated with great respect, even if some basic intercultural shitflinging was going on (Anubis was called the "barker" by the greeks afaik as they thought of animal headed gods as funny.)
Now I wonder if the indians while seeing themselves as an island of highculture in a sea of barbarians like the greeks made some exceptions too. Did you have an indian euivalent to the egyptians which was seen as foreign but all right?
>>
>>72402282
Charlemagne was a ruthless motherfucker but he wasnt a subhuman and created something lasting by force.
>>
>>72402306
>Did you have an indian euivalent to the egyptians which was seen as foreign but all right?
i don't think we had.. ancients definitely called Huns and Greeks as mleccha.. SEA was already Hindu so, they were practically arya themselves.
>>
>>72402306
>The egyptians however they treated with great respect
that was an interesting tit-bit.. but didn't they speak non-greek langauge?
>>
>>72402329
Perhaps, but his actions against the Germanic pagans are inexcusable and are enough to taint his legacy completely tbqh
>>
>>72402367
Well, I guess if you included allready so many different people under ayras making further exceptions for outsiders seemed nonsensical.

About whichh philosophers do you learn about in school btw, I can imagine the selection to be quiet different from ours.
>>
>>72402454
>I can imagine the selection to be quiet different from ours
on the contrary.. Indians (today) are a bunch of self-denigrating and self-loathing bunch. We know much about plato, aristotle, pythagoras, marx, freud, nietzsche etc and much less about kautilya and kanada.

do you learn about non-western philosophers in school. I believe that would be true if you major in philosophy etc.
>>
>>72402411
Yes of course they did speak something completely foreign. The greeks still had to accept them as a cultured kind of barbaros because they could visit each other over the ocean after all and shittalking them as savages was simply not possible in face of their achievments and cultural interaction.
Herodotus who wrote about egypt for example freely admitted that some greek gods probably were first worshipped in egypt.

I didnt major in philosophy or went to university so I dont know about what is mentioned there, but in basic school we only talk about greeks and then anglos, french and germans from the 17-20th century with foreign philosphies being ignored.

It suprises me a lot that you do learn about western ones. Isnt the Modi government supposed to care about indian self perception? Or is it only your state maybe that has a westaboo education?
>>
>>72402429
Yeah, saxon treatment and the eradication of their culture was pretty harsh. But kindness wasnt a virtue in the fifth century and he made highculture possible.

>Isnt the Modi government supposed to care about indian self perception? Or is it only your state maybe that has a westaboo education?
the brit influence is too strong to get washed by one Modi.
Germany might have 'just' one Merkel, we have a whole army of them. see waht happens when Indian schools start teaching Sanskrit (http://www.firstpost.com/india/sanskrit-compulsory-in-assam-schools-when-a-dead-language-deadens-sense-and-sensibility-3320278.html)
>>
>>72402993
Our supply of Merkels is indefinite, dont you worry about being worse in that regard. Concerning that article, I could understand if sanskrit tries to force itself on people speaking something of their own already but replacing a side language like german by it seems reasonable.
We can choose between latin, french and spanish as secundary language besides english and our own after all so this doesnt seem all to insensible. Is it mostly muslims who get pissed about such things and use left/liberal speech as a mean to deflect having to adapt to a distinctly indian thinking?
>>
>>72403494
>dont you worry about being worse in that regard
ha.. sure m8.

>Is it mostly muslims who get pissed about such things and use left/liberal speech as a mean to deflect having to adapt to a distinctly indian thinking?
No. Muslims are just the 'object to point to'. Educated elitists Hindus mainly commies liberals. These people literally draw comparison between Modi and Hitler.
>>
>>72403599
>Educated elitists Hindus
Was Modi a Trumplike backlash to them, or do you think he sets a steady trend their objections wont do much against?

So it's a tie between Egyptian and Greek?
>>
They're all pretty interesting as a smorgasbord belief of a diverse people are.
My personal favourite is Greek and Roman mythology simply due to the appropriate literature accompanying it that paints an absolutely beautiful picture of the Gods and their relationships with eachother and us. The also forceful simplicity yet complexity of them, we cannot think of Hades as anything other than the God of the Underworld, yet he is a God of a lot of different features, in some stories he's a vengeful, wrathful Satan of more Abrahamic tradition and in others he's a stoic, caretaker.

After that I really like Hinduism as the absurd complexity of it from Trimurtism, Shaktism, Shaivism etc it's unlike any religion I can think of where the central God can be debated. The art depicting it is also incredibly colourful and a joy to look at.
